wolverine 247 posters, whos your nfl team...

  • ...and a little insight to their season this year (coaching changes, personnel changes, potential impact rookies, etc).

Love my lions, surprised Gunther Cunningham is still our DC after actually getting worse defensively in almost every defensive category over previous year, which was already bad. The entire season revolves around the health of Stafford 1st, megatron 2nd. DB's are bad to begin with, let alone depleted due to injuries. This years mantra: we may give up 35 points per game, but will score 40+ in 9 or so games. Not expecting much from mikel leshoure (spelling), injury prone, idiot off the field. Missed all of last season w Achilles injury, missed good portion of training camp due to another injury, can't practice with team during 2 game suspension for graduating from "Charles Rodgers school on how to behave in the offseason". Predicting 9-6 season but missing out on the wildcard spot. Packers will win division, bears are going to be interesting and potentially fun to watch. Eager to see if Cutler and Marshall can regain chemistry they had in Denver. If they do watch out

  • Giants. The CB depth is scary, and the OL is horrible again.

Our D-Line is beastly. The LBs are mediocre, but the secondary should be pretty damn good. We have one of the best safety tandems in the NFL in Jairus Byrd and George Wilson.

Offensively, there are a lot more questions. If Fitzpatrick can play like he did before he broke his ribs at midseason, that'll make things a lot better. Fred Jackson is an MVP-caliber RB, and CJ Spiller is no slouch backing him up. Stevie Johnson is a great receiver, and David Nelson is a decent slot man. The biggest question mark is at WR2 - we're carrying so few receivers that we have to hope one breaks out.

Alternatively, since the coaches want CJ Spiller and Jackson on the field at the same time as much as possible, David Nelson could be moving out to WR2 and we could see a fair amount of Spiller in the slot. Fortunately, the offensive line is finally healthy, although a lot of success will also depend on how fast Cordy Glenn can adapt to playing LT in the NFL. It's not ideal to have to start a rookie at LT, but if the Eagles would just stop stealing our good young LTs for once, we wouldn't have to do so.

Offensively, you all know what's up. Drew Brees is ARGUABLY the best QB in the game right now, we have a 4 headed monster at RB with Chris Ivory, Darren Sproles, Mark Ingram, and Pierre Thomas. The receiving corps is good too. We have Jimmy Graham (nuff said), and a top 10 WR in Marques Colston.

Defensively, this year is going to be very interesting after bounty gate. Bountygate was kind of a blessing in disguise because it got us rid of Gregg Williams, and gave up Steve Spagnuolo. Giants fans can tell you how great of a DC he is. Our D has the talent to be top 10-15, but the coaching has been terrible and it really holds us back. Spagsy will fix that I hope.

  • As the signature shows, Redskin fan.

The obvious hype is with RGIII, but so far he's been as good as advertised. His ability works right into what the Shanahan's like to do on O. Our biggest concern is the OL since we've had a lot of injuries and shuffling over the last year. We added Garcon, Morgan and Briscoe at WR to give RGIII some help on the outside. Hankerson started to come around last year but got injured toward the end of the year. I think you'll see big things out of him soon. Brandon Banks can be a game changer in the return game since he's probably the fastest guy in the NFL, but he needs to produce during the season and not hypnotize fans during the preseason only to fizzle. Shanahan is known for finding RB's at any point in the draft, so there is no telling who will be back there. The obvious two are Helu and Royster, but Morris is a huge sleeper that had a great preseason and earned his roster spot.

The front seven on D is the strength, but our secondary is probably the weak point. Jackson is out for the year because he's stupid and Meriweather is out 2-4 weeks. We'll need someone to step up so teams don't eat us alive in the passing game. Raheem Morris was brought over from the Bucs to be our DB coach while this is year three of getting use to Haslett's 3-4 D, so they should be comfortable at this point.

Out of all first games, we start out with NO in the Superdome, so everyone is claiming we'll get the brunt of damage from bounty gate. Last time we played them was in 09 where we lost 33-30 in OT.

  • By default Detroit is #1, but my other team is Baltimore. I love how that team is represented by the "U", and those black on black jerseys the Ravens wear are dope.

Next year draft, the lions need to draft a RB high, along with secondary and LB's. Probably some OL as well, It was disappointing they didn't take Molk in the 7th round this year

Same here. Also worried about the defensive secondary. I seem to remember last season started much the same way though. Hopefully the magic continues.

  • Bengal fan. Haven't been able to watch the game yet.

Hopefully Dalton improves his decision making and starts to target Gresham more.
Gresham has to get more involved with the passing game as he is a match up nightmare. Green...Is....a beast.

Defense has to show improvement; especially the linebackers.
