Well, I'm sure you know what I'm trying to do better than I do.

BTW, contractions utilize an apostrophe, not a quotation mark.

UF is in central Florida. Florida state is in northern Florida. Anyways Florida is my #2 team behind Michigan. Would have love to have attended Florida. Go gators.

I wouldn't call Gainsville Central Florida...

If you did not graduate from the University of Michigan, why do you pull for the wolverines? If you didn't go to college at all, that's fine. If you went somewhere like Ferris, SVSU, or Wayne State, that's fine too. But why pull for UofM?

About half of UMAA alumni are from somewhere other than Michigan - typically from an East Coast or New York City socio-economic elitist family. UMAA is extremely proud of the fact that they don't serve the people of Michigan. These are people who hate you. They can't stand to be in the same room as you. You’re not invited to their cocktail parties. If you were, they’d have you parking cars. These are people who treat you like a fill-in janitor. When you leave the room, they gossip and make jokes about you. Why are you so ravenously loyal to something that doesn’t respect you as a person?

Michigan State has done more for the people of Michigan, more for the State of Michigan, and more for institutions like the Military and probably shares your values more. Again - why do you support something that fundamentally disrespects you? Are you a doormat in all other areas of your life as well?

Because not everyone can afford Michigan. I went to CMU and svsu. I'm not going 100k + in debt to brag on the Internet about a degree.

I'm also a red wings fan. I never played for them or worked for them. So I guess I have no reason to root for them... Using your logic.

I never said the northernmost tip of Florida lol. I consider Orlando as being in the central Florida region. I know what you mean though.. shrug

Yeah, but using some of their fan's logic, you need to be from around the Detroit area (or from the state of Michigan) in order to cheer for the Red Wings.

Do you actually think the RCMB represents most Spartans? Seriously? Is your grasp of reality truly that limited?

I'll assume it is until some sort of counter evidence is displayed.

Yes. I have plenty of friends who act in real life like those on that board. I wouldn't be surprised if I actually knew some of the posters. Oh and hardly any of these people went to MSU.

I was standing outside the bar the other night after the Michigan game the other night and discussing it with several fellow Michigan fans. This state fan comes outside to have a cigarette and immediately interrupts our conversation. He made a snide remark "so you guys all went to Michigan then". Complete douche

nope doesnt work that way, if you were a college grad you would realized a difference between attending a school and just a bunch of people paying to watch a game.

If you don't understand the difference between college and pro sports, I can't help you.

I'm not playing any of your reindeer games. You know exactly what I'm getting at...MSU's ridiculous rules concerning fandom.

  • I just don't understand how a fanbase can get off to creating "rules" for fanhood.

You are either a fan or you are not, simple as that.

  • It's just a way for them to troll UM fans that aren't students/alumni. Ignore it and it will go away.

  • Isn't over half of every major college football teams fanbase made up of people who didn't graduate from the school?

I don't think MSU is considered a major college football program. I was actually referring to the big boys. (i.e. Michigan, ND) but if I were to venture to guess I suppose MSU falls under that category also of having the majority of their fanbase not being graduates of the university.

Yes but MSU has a much much smaller fanbase than ND and mich. Michigan has te second biggest fanbase in the entire nation. I forget exactly what nd is, but I have an article saved on my computer that I will post when I get home.

OSU, UM, and ND are 1-2-3, I believe.

  • There is no way to determine biggest fanbase. That's basically impossible. It would only be accurate if you were to ask every college football fan on planet earth.

I've never understood how people can say who has the biggest fanbase. What can you really base it off of? Ticket sales? Apparel sales? I don't get it.

I will post the article when I get home. The research done was pretty in depth. OSU is #1 by the way.

Basically, from what I remember, the study was based on a whole bunch of different variables, like # of alumni, television viewership, etc.

I would also throw Texas into that mix of blue bloods with huge fanbases.

Yes, Texas has a TON of fans.

By the way, I would imagine that Notre Dame would be the most popular team in college football, but OSU?

  • I just texted my cousin (Michigan fan) and asked who he thought had the biggest fanbase.

His response: "Whoever has the biggest stadium" lol
