  • I want to post a thread telling Sparty to bring their lube for next weekend, but I don't want to go down to a 3* rating.

  • Michigan: 537 yards offense
    Illinois: 134 yards offense

That is a truly staggering stat line there! goblue

Wow. It seemed like Illinois had more yards than that.

They could really easily lose their next 3 games and have to beat Northwestern and Minnesota to become bowl eligible

I agree. I am not sure they will beat Northwestern this year. Can't see them losing 5 games in a row though. I wouldn't be shocked to see them go 1-3 over the next 4.

  • 4 guys had more than 60 yards rushing.

Michigan had nine completions to nine different receivers.

I really liked having Toussaint and Rawls in the backfield at the same time.

Jake Ryan is getting scary good. He and Robinson dominated this game.

I honestly think this the future of the team. The improvements of all players were evident in this game, and Michigan should be good for the foreseeable future. These coaches are incredible and the whole RichRod fiasco may have been a blessing in disguise.

  • This year marks the 10th anniversary of the 2002 MSU game. I think this years game has potential to be similar. The Michigan players are pissed over last season and the cheap shots. Combine that with the trash talk coming out of the MSU players and the fact that the MSU fans and team are very frustrated and you may have a 2002 type game. Dantonio doesn't seem to have control of the team. If UM jumps out early and keeps pouring it on the MSU team may quit on him. Judging by their board the fans have already quit. Today might have been the straw that broke the horses back.

I wasn't really following college football or Michigan in 2002, would you be able to provide me an update of what happened in that game?

The days of WVU going to a BCS game every year are over. The games week in week out are much tougher in the new conference. They don't have the talent to win the big 12 and probably won't. In the big east they had one maybe two tough games. They have a much tougher road in the big 12. By the end of this season they may be wishing they stayed where they were. They wanted competition they got it.

With the dream of a WVU-Oregon BCS championship game now dead, I'm officially rooting for Alabama and Notre Dame to win out.

Michigan curb stomped MSU that year. 49-3, IIRC

I will root for Alabama to win the NC, but I want ND to lose. I am so pissed at the love they get constantly and we should have beaten them. My hatred for them also comes from Lou Holtz. Can't stand that man.

In 2001 MSU won the game due to a cheating timekeeper at their stadium. He gave MSU time in which they shouldn't have had. He stopped the clock before he should have leaving them time for one more play. The Michigan team and players were pissed and in 2002 Michigan showed up to play from the start beating Sparty into submission. The MSU players quit midway through the game as the star, Charles Rogers stopped running routes and Michigan rolled 49-3. After last years cowardly neck twisting incident by Gholston and numerous other cheap shots by MSU I will bet this Michigan team will be playing this game pissed. There is a lot of arrogance with this MSU teams top players the same way there was in 2002. I could very easily see the frustration boil over and those players quit as well. They did a lot of trash talking after bama smoked UM. You can bet the Michigan players have that on their mind.

  • So you can just tackle the QB after the refs have been repeatedly blowing the whistle?

    Yea that wouldn't surprise me.

As for MSU quitting, it might be easier than you think. That first half against Indiana no one on their defense gave a shit and gave up on the team. How they came back amazes me.

In 2002 they quit and it just got flat out uglier as a pissed off Michigan team kept it's foot on the gas.
