Denard is starting to hit his stride, and I believe he's going to go insane this weekend. About 150 rushing yards, and 200 passing yards. The defense will have to bring the hard hats, but w/ the improvement of BWC and Quinton in the middle they have been consistently establishing the line of scrimmage. Kovacs should be nearing 100% I hope, he has been noticably slower since the knee injury but he is still consistently in the right spot. Jake Ryan will be too much and flush everything to the other side, as well as playing excellent defense on their biggest weapon Sims.

  • I think they play their best game against us. They are going to give it 100% every play. This is their biggest game and it doesn't look like they're going to have a chance at a big ten championship, so they will lay it all on the line this Saturday, but Michigan still wins. I'm more excited for dantonio's presser after the game than the game itself. 100% chance dantonio cries cry and makes excuses after this game.

I feel this is closer to reality than a 10point win. State's D is good. It's their offense that's sucking the life out of that team. If their D continues to harass Denard and forces him to pass, we are in for a butt-clinching 60minutes. Denard still threw off his back foot this past week and probably throws 2 picks of the DBs were anybody but Illinois'. One came in the 3rd quarter when it was still 17-0. State might make that pick and score a TD. Now it's a whole new ballgame at 17-7.

I am not even close to being confident for this game. I hope to God Borges has a good game plan that effectively counters State's pressure D (and it better not include Denard anchored in the pocket, trying to read corners and safeties).

  • Little brother is going to be our 900th victim. I'd say that's appropriate considering how many Ws they have contributed to the total over the years.

It seems appropriate. I hope you're right.

  • I really feel that Borges has this offense clicking after the ND game, and the defense is playing stellar ball. I do feel though that this is the game for sparty every year so the miscues that have plagued them so far will disappear. Michigan in a close one.

  • History suggests that Michigan will win this game by at least 2 TDs.

Bo Schembechler, Gary Moeller, and Lloyd Carr all lost their first games against Michigan State. In their second games, Michigan won by at least 14 points.

(I left out Rich Rod because he wasn't part of the Michigan tree and hence didn't share the same philosophy.)

  • I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but comments like this on that RCMB thread piss me off:

"I think that to some degree the pressure is off a bit. Time to regroup and play with reckless abandon, aka 60 minutes of unnecessary roughness!!!!!"

The game got ugly enough last year, and the last thing either team needs is punches being thrown or unnecessary injuries occurring. IMO, the refs should have a quick hook. If Gholston does anything like wrenching Denard's facemask or throwing a punch he should be immediately booted out of the game. After last year, you can't argue that it's only passion - MSU comes into this game prepared to play dirty.

  • It's very simple. Get up 13-14 points on Sparty and then unleash hell on Maxwell. Leveon Bell is going to get his carries/yards. But if we get up early on them, it will force them to throw the ball, and we all know who their safety valve is, Dion Sims.

My 5 keys to the game,

    - get up early on the scoreboard
    - protect the ball
    - blitz Maxwell as often as possible & make him eat some UM Ann Arbor turf.

How about Lewan just gets Ghoulston out of the game first?

Worth the 15 yard penalty for the chop block and it is a legit penalty. Unlike throwing a punch

That was definitely a huge problem for the Spartans last year in this game and allowed the Wolverines stay within a couple of TD's.

I'd say it was the deciding factor in your victory... UM seemed to be shell-shocked by the intensity/dirty play and couldn't recover.

After the whistle penalties do nothing to help the penalized team. It kept several M drives alive that should have been punts. It was ridicoulous. If the Spartans have any shot this week they have to play with intensity and play clean.

I'm not sure if play clean is in the vocabulary of several msu players.

Has g-unit gholston recovered from "getting the wind knocked out of him"?

    thevictor_11

  • I am soooo tired of Sparty ripping on Denard, as if he's never done anything significant as our QB.

They all realize that Tom Gholson is the most over-hyped player in the B1G since mSu last went to Pasadena, right? That dude has done absolutely NOTHING compared to Denard's accomplishments.
