Shouldn't someone of your caliber, insight, and access to inside sources know these things?

Hey remember about four weeks ago when you guaranteed Ty would commit that weekend? That was fun. If you keep saying it, your chances go up exponentially. Keep at it, Ace, dont let these guys get you down

Didn't he miss out on a WR or 2 that weekend also?

Credibility is a hard thing to recover if things don't turn out the way you so confidently predict.

    Good luck with that.

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

Don't bother with that right now. Give it 2 weeks and then see where he stands. The truth will come out eventually.

Nah Richard, you're right on all accounts except for Meyer's spread meshing with Isaac's style; however, that's the problem with what Rick is saying. We all realize that Isaac could drop at anytime. Taking a shot in the dark on the heels of Isaac's USC visit isn't very impressive.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the meshing aspect. Isaac seems to agree with you, though, and that's what matters.

Fair enough, the call isn't exactly out of the blue. Even Chris Dudley hit a free throw now and then, as well, so it will be hard for Rick to celebrate too much if he's right. I'm 0-1 on this Board with calls myself so I can't talk either.

Not to mention the guy's skills on offense and in the return game...

Rumor is he's going out to the Colorado Spring game 4/9. If true, Yuri Wright must have a fair amount of influence with him. That could be a negative for Michigan and definitely a negative for Peppers.

I don't understand Urban's strategy right now with RBs, his offense requires RBs that can get out on the edge and catch passes yet he is recruiting power backs that are meant for being an every down back.

The general concept Meyer expounds is that an offense has to stretch the field as much as possible to create favorable match-ups. That means giving defenses a wide variety of looks. For the running game, that means a mix of smashing the ball down the middle, and rounding the edge, as well as short throws to a RB in space. For avoidance of doubt, Warriner and Meyer have been very clear that the power game will be an intergral component of OSU football going forward. I believe them b/c Meyer simply didn't have the right personnel to execute the power game at FL (ex Tebow) and he knows he will need a power game to avenge his loss to AL, which was a game in which the only runner who could advance the ball was Tebow. In Warriner's case, the power game is what he knows. I just see this as a very different version of the spread than Rodriguez's offenses. I can't wait to see how it looks in practice, though.

OSU is more imbalanced currently towards power runners (Hyde, R Smith, Dunn, Ball), with Jordan Hall filling more of the edge role. For the 2013 class, I see Jalin Marshall being used a lot on the outside when he comes in and if we are lucky enough to land Foster, he'll probably see his fair share of sweeps, pitches, etc. So Marshall at a minimum will create some balance on the attack methods. Obviously, we offered D Smith, but I'd argue he was the only pure down the middle runner we've offered. The other guys are speedsters, who can take it to the hole but also bump it outside. Most are not pure outside runners like Demps was, for sure. I think that speaks to the point that Meyer is not going to avoid the middle more than anything.

I can't argue that he'd love to have Isaac who, in your words, "can get out on the edge and catch passes".

  • Looks like Michigan has another point guard on the radar for 2012 by the name of Spike Albrecht. He is a crafty heady player that sounds just like the type of player Coach B is successful with. Here are some BBall recruiting tidbits from UMhoops that include some hightlights of Spike.
