  • I'll try to bring some civility back to this thread. As for what the original poster had to say, reguarding tOSU OL, there sure are depth concerns. Jim Bollman did us no favors over the last few years. I believe its too early to call this OL a joke. I like the starting 5. Mewhort, Norwell, and Marcus Hall were all high school all-americans and have tremendous potential. I'm hoping Warriner, the new OL coach can whip these guys into shape. Fragel at RT seems to be working out so far. Taylor Decker has had a great spring. He's already in the 2 deep. A lot of our insiders predict he'll be a 3 year starter. Also, don't forget the youngest Boren, Jacoby. If he's anything like his brothers, he'll be a force. Bottom line is the depth is a concern, but the starting 5 should be solid after getting a couple games under there belt. At least that's what I'm praying for...... Ok you guys can go back to your dick measuring contest.

Fragel was recruited as an o-lineman by most schools (Michigan being one of them if I remember correctly), so I'm sure he'll be fine. Not sure why he's being brought up as a red flag for the line.

Although if I'm wrong in my recollection of his recruitment, I guess it could be a red flag lol. However, A tight end to offensive tackle is not an unheard of move.

blah Blah Blah Blah Blah. Ohio this, ohio that, ohio must, ohio could, ohio should, ohio would. Take it back to BN and stay there. When talking about a Boren, stop addressing him like he is some super star " bonds. james ". I believe you get the message.

Ok so Fragel was recruited as OL. Well he played tight end, so it's safe to say he wasnt good enough for OL or he is more productive as a tight end right? Now he gets moved to OL which can only tell u a few things. #1 your OL is in trouble, #2 Fragel has been workin his tail off to play OL because it's his long life dream to play OL. Which we know is not the case. I rest my case....

  • Perhaps I'm mistaken but I thought the intent of this thread was to talk about the battle in the trenches, specifically once we see the '12 and '13 classes take the field. It's no secret that Ohio has cleaned up on the DL in '12 and started well in '13. UM though has the OL to match in '12 and '13 so that may be a wash. But Ohio seems to disregard the DL haul UM had in '12, 4 4stars (RATINGS: 96, 96, 91, and 93) and 2 3stars where as Ohio may have questions though on their side of the OL

  • I love reading this back and forth stuff. It's mano to mano in these head to head threads. But back in the confines of our own recruiting discussion boards the personalities of each school come out even more clearly. Michigan tends to revert to the "cautious pessimism" end of the scale regarding recruiting. Ohio, though, clearly has a lock on the "passive aggressive delusional" personality. I.e. he's an Ohio lock...oops, no, he's got a (insert favorite excuse) and Meyer passed a long time ago.

Just a quick suggestion from an average Ohioan, you may want to revisit the use of "Lets" vs "Let's":

Let’s is the English cohortative word, meaning “let us” in an exhortation of the group including the speaker to do something.

Lets is the third person singular present tense form of the verb "let" meaning to permit or allow.

They are lacking in talent too. When you have to move Fragel from TE to fill a spot, that is an issue. Maybe they will gel and outperform...stranger things have happened. But you should expect a step back for their OL this year, before a better 2013.

Keep listening to UM when he talks it is working. Just keep think that and all will be fine.

I actually think Fragel is going to be very good. I'd bet he gets drafted as a tackle. He's extremely athletic and should have been playing tackle from the get go. I'm more worried about the other tackle spot and one of the guard spots, honestly.

That said, i've been vocal that i'm worried about our OL. WIth this incoming class and assuming we get Pocic and one other OL this year i'm not worried about the OL 2 or 3 years from now. But I am worried about it this upcoming year. That said, our offense will be better this season than it was last. Brax is making clear strides and the receiving core will be at least somewhat better. And, honestly, I don't think we lose much from Herron that we can't make up with Hyde/Hall/Dunn.

  • Well without the stupid arguing over and over about stupid crap....................

I believe it will be a great battle between the two. Michigan is recruiting a stellar OL, and OSU is putting together a great DL. The difference maker will be the secondary for Michiagan and OSU's receivers. I think the QB battle might go to OSU only because Miller is a tad bit more accurate. It is way too early to determine the winner, and I cannot wait for the game.

The best part is it is at OSU and will be our Bowl Game! Awesome, and I think the Rivalry will be on!!

  • SonnyD said...

    Haha at your logic.

Ok, you're right. tOSU will have the worst OL in the B1G and likely finish with a worse record than last year. All the kids they have were terribly rated recruits etc...

So you plan on relying on freshman, but if Michigan fans say that we have a freshman in the two-deep we suck?

How in the world did you conclude that Braxton Miller is a more accurate passer than Denard Robinson? First, OSU barely let BM throw at all last year. Presumably, that is because you thought BM throwing the ball was a bad idea. Second, the one game that BM threw heavily in was the game against us and Denard clearly was the more accurate passer:

    DR 14/17 for 147 yards (9.8 yds/att) 3 TDs 0 Int
    BM 14/25 for 235 yards (9.4 yds/att) 2 TDs 1 Int

Add on the fact that DRob is far more experienced, especially in big games, and on paper we clearly have the QB passing advantage.

And a loss plus a loss plus a loss is many losses...I'm content with one loss over the last decade. I quit tracking how many points it was by back in '02.

Michigan has a winning record against OSU (21-20-2) since 1969. Even if we just count the Cooper and Tressel/Fickell eras, we are 12-11-1. The Vest is gone. He's not coming back. Get over it.
