ohio state spring game?

  • Jsid7 said...

Jeeezz... You guys act like you're not worried about us, but every other thread on your board is Ohio State this, Ohio State that. That certainly is not the case on the OSU board. Don't let the one game you've won in the last 10 year get to your head. Not to mention 2011 was a piss poor OSU squad.

You guys talk about michigan more than we talk about osu. There is like four threads about michigan on the front row alone.

Great post and thanks for the analysis. One guy who certainly stood out for me was Shazier that guy is an instinctive playmaker and he laid out some pretty big hits just in that spring game. Crazy that he's only a true sophomore. It makes me excited to see which of our new LB recruits can maybe have an instant impact like that although we have pretty solid depth returning at the position this year. Still hope guys like
Bolden and RJS can shine through cant wait to see them in the fall.

Yeah, Shazier is fun to watch...he's a beast! I think Bolden will be a beast as well after watching him in (whichever all star game it was). I must say it stings every time I look at the top 150 and see the 3-4 Ohio guys you plucked. I'm hoping it's because Hoke was smart enough to start working them early when our future coach/pending sanctions were still unknowns. Guess we'll see over the next few years. I'm also interested to see your Oline vs our D the next few years if both sides' recruits live up to their rankings...Should make for some great battles!!

  • Yeah we talk about you. You're our arch rival. But it just seems to me that there is an excess of it on your board. As for one of our guys posing as a blue fan, that may very well be true. Hell every school has their share of moronic fans, and we are no exception. There is a guy on our board that talks like he mentally disabled 80% of the time, then types perfect english the remaining time. shrug
All I was getting at is the fact that I think your pounding your chests a little hard given the last 10-11 years.

How hard should we pound our chests then?

That's just a straight up lie. I read your board regularly, I can assure you there are plenty of Michigan threads there. As for the Ohio threads, one was started by a bucknut, and another was started by a guy pretending to be a Michigan fan (this particular thread).

    This.

There is non-stop Michigan threads on Bucknuts.

Are your serious? Every thread on your board references Michigan in some way. Go back to your hole troll.

  • There are currently 5 threads referencing Michigan in their title on Bucknuts. I'm willing to bet there's double that many threads that mention Michigan in the comments.

    Silly Buckeye fan.

  • Our starting offensive line doesn't suck. It's our back-ups that are worthless. Will be better when we get Dodson(told ya we would get him and you guys laughed) and O'connor on campus.

Still, we need Pocic and we'll he fine. Could definitely use more but we'll be fine.

roflmao and we hung 40 on you (should have been 44 if not for a debatable call) in our first year of a new system. It sounds like it's you who should be a little more concerned about US.

That's easy to say, but we could say if Miller didn't overthrow 3 wide open deep balls we should have scored 55 points...kind of a dumb point since it's part of the game...Really not concerned with your offense, or our defense....we return 9 on the defense, and with the absolute haul in this years class and the committed defenders to next years class, Urban is putting together exactly what won him those SEC championships, oh yeah, and the 2 NC's.....a defense that goes 2-3 deep on the DL, without a drop off in talent or speed, fast LB's and ball hawking DB's....

He will also get his 1 or 2 playmakers on offense next year, one already committed, and will get another....I'm truly not worried...

Now for you guys....Robinson has been the ONLY offense you've had for past couple years, and will be again this year...If I were you, I'd be really wondering what your next 3-5 years hold....Yep, you have some good looking OL recruits, but if you don't have some talent behind them, it truly won't matter....You will say, "They will give our QB all day to throw" or something like that, but honestly, we've all seen QB's that could sit in a pocket with no rush that still can't put the ball where it needs to be...so, there again, hopefully y'all get some offensive talent worthy of that O Line....

Actually pulling for you guys, the BIG is much better when our rivalry means something....which it hasn't for the better part of 20 years....y'all dominated Coop and Tress dominated you....we need another Woody and Bo!

    1. The point total of 44 points is derived based on the judgement errors from the refs on Fitz late 4th quarter TD that they erroneously called back, not from overthrown balls which cant be mulliganed.

2.Fitz Toussaint is a top RB in the nation, and it would be more accurate to say that you (Ohio) have only Braxton as your whole offense.

    3. 2013 will be a down year, then things will pick up heavily as the coaching staff develops their own recruits for the schemes that had envisioned.

    4. Who are these playmakers you referred to, and which one committed?

TJMM, please explain something to me. One of your inserted pictures has a caption referring to Michigan as "Canadas Alabama." What does that mean, I have no idea. And if its meant to be pejorative, wouldn't Ohio then be "Michigans Alabama?"

  • If Braxton Miller hasn't developed as a passer (I didn't watch their spring game and don't care, so just going off the arguments ITT), then I don't think anyone should be surprised. Not sure there's any evidence that Urban can develop someone as a passer, especially in terms of fundamentals.

That said...it's not Meyer's job to necessarily develop him as a professional-style passer. Tebow's wind-up delivery worked just fine in college, and Meyer simply needs to win in college. If he can do that with Braxton's current abilities, then so be it.

Totally agree with this. This is exactly why Denard did not progress much as a passer under RR. It wasn't until Hoke/Borges took over a year ago that Denard began receiving serious instruction on proper footwork, arm mechanics and progressions. That's not to say that Braxton Miller won't be a very effective QB in Urbie's system (see Denard circa 2010), but he will not develop and polish his passing skills the way he would if he were in a pro style offense. Those skills are just not emphasized and taught as much in a run-based spread offense.

  • I'm watching their game again as I have my coffee and get ready to go.

Sabino had a late cheap shot on a TE after an incomplete pass. Every ref on the field threw the flag. lol. Nice. Win at all costs, even if it means cheap shotting your own teammate during a practice.

  • Molre from a Buckeye on the sping game, game was pass heavy, with Miller and Guiton playing the entire game. Meyer wanted them to get as much experience in his offense as possible. I think Guiton threw the ball better than Miller. Guiton was more down the field, Miller more short game throws. Running game was not stressed so a lot of the offense was not shown, and Guiton and Miller were blown down a lot on plays where either one of them would of rolled out of the traffic or took off down field. O-line, still needs a lot of work, left side looks good, Fragel, a converted TE to OT, needs a lot of reps. O-line will be thin, have to make worry about injuries there. WR's at best, are a collection of possession receivers, some break away but not much. Jordan Hall did not play, Verlon Reed, possession type receiver is rehabbing an injury, they did not go to Stoneburner much (Meyer knows what he can do, so no need to go his way.) Bucks will rotate a stable of running backs, Hall, Dunn, Hyde, Smith, and Ball, all but Hall are big enough to take/give a hit, and not go down. Was very impressed with Dunn and Smith, but it's a spring game.

Defensive side, Front four should be very solid, no holes and a ton of quality people to rotate in and out. Linebackers, a very weak spot last year, should be better, and the DB will show better than what they are due to the front four being better.

Looking forward to the last game in November against Michigan, that's OSU's bowl game and most likely the better game than the Big Ten Championship game.
