any new info on ty Isaac

I have this gut feeling that he ends up at USC. We haven't been on the winning end of these 50/50, two team battles. I'm not that confident about this one anymore.

We have whiffed on a lot of RBs recently and USC is a tough school to beat out for a RB. But I still think we end up with Issac. I think it's close, but the more time that passes (especially if he does not commit soon after Davis), the better it looks.

He wasn't lied to. His move to TE was the best thing for him as he ended up the best TE in the country...and he was only there for 4 years. What part of Nick Perry was injured most of his time at USC do you not understand? When he was healthy he was dominant on the field from the time he arrived.

Kyle Prater was out because he was hurt so he used his RS year as frosh. As a sophomore he was beat out by Lee. He bailed when he saw the writing on the wall...too much competition at the WR spot.

You keep flinging though, eventually something will stick. The bottom line is that the kids chose SC and with the exception of Prater, each one was very successful.

What are u talking about Fred Daves didn't go to schools like Michigan or OSU becuase USC told him they would make him a TE and that SC wouldnt. So yes they totally lied to him. Also he did not become the best TE in the country it took him forever to gain weight and to become a ok TE by the time he was good enough to play he was a jr the dude could have been a moster at WR if he went to Michigan or OSU so stop with this USC love fest. As for Nick Perry he wasn't injured for most of his time at SC thats a lie the dude was redshirted as a fr and spent the 2009 & 2010 as a backup didn't see the field till he was a sr. Rjo was a bust dude he came in as a 5 star and left SC not done anything. Kyler Prater was another 5 star who could have started anywhere even after he got hurt SC gave up on him. Bottom line is those guys could have been super stars had they gone anywhere else.

    Steve,

Constantly changing info on this. He's visiting Michigan then he's not. He's visiting ND and now apparently not. It's sounds like there is just a lot of 'misinformation' out there? I didn't check the source on the ND visit. Anybody else?

If there are no more visits I bet he must have it down to at least two finalists and maybe even one. He just doesn't want the media attention.

He told our USC site he's also done taking visits. With recruiting, young men change their minds all the time. We know that. I always look for constants. Michigan and USC have been the two constants for awhile now.

Isaac said he was done taking visits for awhile only to take a second visit to USC shortly thereafter. I think he's not a fan of the process and sometimes just says whatever he thinks will cause people to back off and leave him alone.

  • I think Ty stays close to home. He has shown that his family is very important to him. His mother has expressed a dislike for flying and that she'd prefer that he stay close to home. I've heard people comparing him to Marcus Allen, and, yes, USC has a long history of great RBs...but I think Michigan has a pretty nice list of former backs, too.

Plus, we are due on these 50/50 battles. Reeves, Garnett, Diamond, Levenberry, and others have been so close. I think Isaac breaks the curse.

Other than location, USC and Michigan are very comparable when it comes to academics, athletic prominence, history, popularity, tradition, and snagging a good recruiting class. I wouldn't trade Hoke for Kiffin for anything, but Kiffin is a bigger name today. I think Isaac is the next domino to fall and I can't wait to see Kate Upton dancing on the Hello: Ty Isaac post.

  • Not looking good for us. Allen Trieu just tweeted to somebody asking on our chances something like "Not looking good. Everybody involved is becoming more comfortable with distance."

  • Kiffin is a season or two removed by being one of the more sleazier head coaches and how he left the UT program. The way he sold out RoJo after that one game was deplorable. How anyone would want to send their kid to play for this guy is beyond me. What has he accomplished?

I bet Kiffin is gone in three years. The natives are getting restless watching Stanford and Oregon dominate that conference and the scholly reductions haven't even hit yet. If Kiffen doesn't win the P12 this year, it could be downhill. He loses his QB and 1-2 elite WRs for 2013 and the smaller classes are going to begin to hurt depth. I hope Isaac has thought this all the way through.

Wow, not easy to go 0 for 4 in one paragraph.

But you managed to do it.

  • So much comedic gold here.
Fred Davis - Mackey award as BEST TE in college.
Perry with the HIGH ankle sprain his freshman year after recording seven sacks in the first three games... and the nagging sprain his sophomore year. And his junior year he rotated in and out at the end position - starting is clearly not as important to NFL GM's as it is to fanboys.
Rojo - I HATE that Kiffin made him drop that pass against ND. Those of you who talk out your ass - late fouth quarter, Rojo got behind the entire ND secondary on a rainy day and dropped a ball right in his hands. On a day when both offenses struggled, that play was the game... And he was still drafted.
Kiffin? Sleazy??? Hardly. Or are you all upset that he called out Urban Meyer? I find that hard to believe... Is it because he left Tennessee after one year to go to SC - a school he had coached at 5+ seasons previously???

The green doesn't look on you, Maize and Blue...

  • Sorry, but I thought Kiffin was sleezy long before he took Isaac away from us...that is also how most of the nation views him too.

  • Good pick-up for USC... it would have been nice to have him in this class to form a nasty 1-2 punch w/ Smith.

Once the delay started and the visits out West became a priority, it looked less and less likely he'd come here.

How wrong you are...We absolutely love Kiffin! There were some doubters the first year, but all are now on Board the Lane Train....

Lee’s only a sophomore this year, if that’s who you are talking about.

I agree with you though that this year is sort of a make or break year for CLK. There really is no reason that they shouldn’t win the PAC 12, and at least make it to the NC.

  • Yup, Lee will be a junior in 2013 and Woods a senior. Many outsiders expect Woods to go in the draft as a top 15 pick with Barkley but he has hinted a big interest in coming back. If he does, the new QB (who will have 2 full years learning from Barkley) will have a legendary WR core and ultra talented veteran TEs to throw to.

It's not a make or break year for Kiffin, he came in to SC during an absolute $h!t storm. He knew it would be rough but he couldnt pass on coming home to his dream job.
All he did was hold together a great recruiting class. Kept the team afloat his 1st year while building for the future.

Last year he took a team that had absolutely NOTHING to play for because of the sanctions and beat up both SCs rivals and won a great game AT Oregon to finish the year off at #5 in the country!! Again, for a team with zero to play for.
All while pulling in top notch recruiting classes.

USC fans want a National Championship this year no doubt! 2 wins vs Oregon will be tough though. It's a long season, anything can happen. But with the talent in the wings and the talent coming aboard, ALONG with a great coaching staff, SC or Kiffin won't be going anywhere after 2012.

You do realize Fred Davis ASKED to be moved to Tight End after his Freshman year?
That he was already 250+ by his Sophomore year? He was a rock at TE for us for four seasons. Watch the Bush Push against Notre Dame his soph season. That is Freddy caving in the right side if the Irish line.

Your statement that he would have been a Monster WR at Michigan or OSU is ludicrous
He was 260 LBs and couldn't run routes as a WR

He would have been a Tight End no matter where he went

That Nick Perry was red shirted as a Freshman because he didn't get through the clearinghouse until we had played two ir three games?
And that he was our best pass rusher anytime he was healthy and he never played as a senior? He left after his RS Junior Year

You may be the single most uninformed poster on 24/7
