York Talks Michigan Offer

  • We certainly need one elite receiver in this class, and of course we all hope it is Quon. But as for the other two options, guys like Dukes and York would be ideal, IMHO.

  • I don't think we need another tall wideout if we get Treads. I think we need a pure slot guy like Larue or Devon Allen

Why would we assume MSU such a pull for WR's? This last draft they had none of their top guys drafted till like Day 3 I beleive

Martin went in the 4th, Cunningham in the 6th. Neither of them were highly ranked recruits.

MSU had a very good bunch of WRs recently. Last class we had two 4-stars and two very solid 3-stars. We also had DeAnthony Arnett (another 4-star) transfer in. Because we took so many guys last class, we aren't hard-pressed for another WR in the 2013 class. It's a 50% chance that we take one, and we'll only take a "plan A" type kid.

Question, how's Burbridge looking academically? Is Arnett going to get his waiver?

Arnett: We're all pretty optimistic about it. This sort of situation is they reason why they allow for these waivers. But it's the NCAA. They're not exactly the most consistent organization. We should find out any day now. The staff is very high on his athleticism and route running, but he needs to improve his hands.

Burbridge: Nobody really knows. He's raised his ACT scores, which should help make up some of the difference. He's supposedly doing very well with his summer school courses. Nobody will know anything definitively for at least a couple months. I'm less optimistic about his situation than with Arnett.

Thanks for the insight, I wish them the best.

He has already started summer school courses? Shouldn't the regular school year end first ?

Sooo, as he said, none of the top guys were drafted until the 3rd day.

Height doesn't dictate playing the slot. Treadwell or stringfelllow could potentially line up in the slot

Yeah, the high school year hasn't ended yet so he couldn't have started summer school yet

Sorry, I misspoke about the summer school courses. He's supposedly doing very well with THIS semester and will start summer school courses soon.

And yes, MSU's only WRs drafted were in the late rounds. But that actually is a testament to the staff's development of its receivers. Other than their MSU offers, Cunningham and Martin had a combined 2 BCS offers out of HS. If anything, that would help with future WR recruiting.

  • I don't think we need another slot. We've got Hayes, Nofleet and Lewis. They can all play slot if the need presents itself. Michigan's pro-style sets won't depend on slots but they will depend on field-stretching types. We have exactly zero of those with experience going into the 2013 season. Dileo and Gallon will still be around for then too.

I want to make it known that Steve Lorenz (Tremendous) is the reason my trial month became a permanent membership. Smart move 247.
