Would you do it the osu way for 10 years of success?

    Not splitting here.

YOU implied that we were forcing players to attend extra voluntary practices, which is no where near what happened.

And a lousy newspaper with an actual agenda (unlike the one that tOSU fans think that ESPN has out for them) lied a great deal about what happened, and a lot of what originally was said was proven to be wrong. A lot of the "anon" players that the newspaper used were, in fact, fake.

Your story dude, make it as big as you want. Like i said, new year, new coaches, new schemes, [smackes hands together hard].... LET'S GET IT ON!

  • So George Dorhmann wrote a SI article about OSU and stated UN-named sources were accusing Pryor of getting car deals and for signing autographs for money, oh and they had the cancelled checks to prove it. Guess what the NCAA investigated all of those false accusations and guess what, found absolutely nothing. You think a kid is getting free cars and money from autographs there would be some paper trail.. Guess what...NADA... Nothing... Tressel was wrong and deserved to be fired (most OSU fans agree) but the absolute lying just to sell magazines or websites is why OSU fans are complaining. like it or not OSU sells well and anything these "journalistic (lmfao) entities" can do to keep OSU negatively in the public eye brings real dollars to their coffers.. Unfortunately they are pulling many of you by your nose ring as well...

Yep, it's not cheating when a program provides extra practice time and hides the paper work... But it is cheating when a player gets a tattoo when selling his personal belongings. So did the tattoo make the student athlete a better player or the extra practice time make the student athlete a better player? I think if you have any sense of realism the extra practice is more of a competitive advantage, but then again there isn't a whole lot of reasoning north of Toledo... It's sad that so many think UM is a good school when the typical UM fan can't reason....

Right, because recruits knowing they'll get additional benefits doesn't help at all when it comes to signing players. That's why Pryor wasn't part of the scandal.....oh wait.

  • Gfortress5 said...

I love you all, ..... No I really mean that. But we got busted for selling personal property for tattoos, you got busted for taking extra "mandatory" "voluntary" practice time. Ours had no advantage on the field advantage and yours did no good on the field. Gents, seriously, get off your effing high horses. Now with that said we both move on, you have a new coach that shows promise and give you at least second place in the B1G which is cool by me and we have a new coach who I really haven't liked since his days at Utah but he seems to have trimmed the fat off the big uglies and actually give us a friggin passing game, [panick] plus has recruited the best DL class in the country which is the secret of the SEC run the NCG. So all I can say is LET'S GET IT ON

lol The tattoos wasn't the big problem for your school. It was Tressel lying. That is what got OSU in a lot of trouble. The Tattoo thing would of been a minor infraction had it been reported properly. Tressel looking the other way when infractions are occuring can very much give you an advantage on the field. First some of those players would of been ruled ineligible for a few games. And Second it very well could of helped in recruiting.

Ok, if you gotta know it, I think Tressel told Gene "dumbass worst AD in the B1G" Smith and he did nothing about. I think Tressel was also noted for showing favorites and I am glad he is gone, I wish Smith would have gotten fired as well. To take it just one step further I wish someone would launch a javelin in Gordon Gee's butt (the military one not the Olympic one) but none of that happened. That all said I have a friend who was a D1 linebacker that said that EVERY school is guilty, yes, even mighty Blue. We are all 1 reporter, disgruntled employee from the national hate list. Look, you're forgetting that this boils down to recruiting advantages which equal wins down the line. Kids know you can get paid at osu, so they decide to commit there. They sell their stuff, Tressel covers it up, and the cycle continues. It's cheating, plain and simple.

I agree with this!!! Well said. I wonder if they ever got cake too!

As a close observer of college football basketball and baseball and studying these cases, I don't think you can ever say "Michigan " has cheated per say. I believe that each time they have had transgressions in the various sports, it's been some rouge players or coaches or boosters who have done the actual cheating and not the institution. I don't think you could ever say Michigan cheated. I firmly believe that.

Look at the two trolls having fun. Easy to say msu cheats though, when you have training tables with PED's all over them in the football facility and coaches instructing players which ones to take. Or student athletes that don't know what the inside of a classroom looks like, because they don't have to, faculty members just change grades to ensure everyone plays. You are right, Michigan has never done those types of things, (or worse, like cover up assault and s. battery). Good observation.

You want some cheating? Duffy used to have a money drawer. When Hans Nielson needed to fly back to Denmark I knew the guy whose house he painted for the 800 dollar ticket. Except his house was shingles. Greg Croxton had those grades changed under Perles because we don't have an athletic major. We take kids in at a 2.0 and a 17 ACT and expect them to be book smart by the end of September. You want me to pretend it doesn't happen I certainly will. It doesn't change the real facts though. All that's left is phony moral high ground that somehow allows the koolade drinking fans to lie to themselves. College sports have long stopped being collegiate. It is what it is.

I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest coach under both Perles and Saban at their camps. The best and greatest part about those weeks were the after hours parties just listening to some of the stories of some giants of college football. I'd just sit and listen because I knew my place but some of the stories were jaw dropping. I suppose like many things time has allowed for embellishment but I know the base of them were true. Put it this way: take all the scandal uncovered by the NCAA and imagine them as an iceberg tip. What's underneath the water would shock us and not to many of us get shocked anymore.

Thing was with him, he really did get a virus his first NFL year. However many said he would have to do what he needed to do to get back to where he was. Wink wink. He had an ok career in the NFL. Many people skip that part.

  • I have said it before and will again, while I hate it, the fact is there is NOT A SINGLE PROGRAM IN THE COUNTRY that is 100% clean. You can be delusional about your team if you would like to, but believe me, it happens there too.

I am in a golf league with an former All America DB from Notre Dame during their championship runs in the 80's. You can look it up, I am not going to say his name. He was upset about all of this when it came down at OSU because, as he said it, players have traded memorabilia for years in the past and will for years in the future. He admitted that he had also done so himself in college and that the overwhelming majority of his team mates had as well. Now, this is not all to say that every player does it. But every team definitely has some that do it. You guys claim to be the smartest fan base around, so please do not be blind to the fact that it happens there too.

While I am not glad that our players did this against NCAA rules, I am ultimately happy that only current players were found in violation and that there were no sactions for recruiting violations. Go ahead and joke away as I am sure your responses will say, "are you serious of course there were recruiting violations." That is fine if you say it, I am glad there were none found by the NCAA though.

Last piece to share, I remember our fan base laughing and making fun of USC only to find ourselves in this horrible nightmare of a year it has been. I advise you do not throw stones when you are not aware of the actions of the several young, immature, college students whom happen to be athletes that play for your school. If the media wants to find something in Ann Arbor on the football player, I PROMISE YOU THEY COULD.

True, but you guys fall to realize you're players were also dealing drugs out of that shop too, but only admit that the wrong actions of your players was selling stuff.

No that is actually false. The allegations were that the players were buying/smoking weed there, not dealing. While I do not do drugs, I would venture to say that a large percentage of college football players smoke pot. Yes, including Michigan players as well.

  • Please do not take what I am saying as excuses or anything as such. Believe me, I feel disgraced by what went on. Honestly...disgraced. But I am slowly accepting that this stuff happens at all schools. Again, my comfort is in that nothing was found on the recruiting front.

Quick fix to all memorabilia problems in college. All championship rings all gold pants all swag and blind earned while at school are given to the kids and then, in august of the following year take them back and tell the lads when you graduate or leave the program you get them all. We'll keep them in a safe place fir you. Then they can do whatever the he'll they want with gold pants or rings or whatever.

Coaches knew that was going on and they knew about the leased cars. Just step in at least after the second time a star player is pulled over in a brand new leased vehicle. You have to know it will bite you in the ass eventually.
