Wolverines landed in-state WR

This is pretty cool. Thank you for sharing this.

Definitely! He loved it in Pickerington, so if it'd been up to him, he never would've moved. So that makes it extra special that he gets to rejoin those two once again.

  • Look up Gareon Conley and his fathers response to his recruitment and then you will be satisfied... For now

I think this is him taking Dawson's spot. After last week the coaches probably realized they will have to move Gardner back and the state of WRs next year isn't too promising so WR is a more pressing need than OL.

Either way, welcome to the Wolverine family DaMario!

Gardner will be gone before Jones probably ever steps on the field.

Westland (Mich.) John Glenn receiver Da'Mario Jones talks about being the 23rd member of Michigan's 2013 recruiting class.

    Congrats to Jones!

You never know that though. RBs and WRs seem to be the players that see the field early. Also, look at MSU and Aaron Burbridge. Are you telling me our WRs next year are going to be so awesome that he can't see the field? Anything can happen.

  • Jones is more likely a slot WR...meaning with Gallon and Dileo around, he probably redshirts next year.

No, you're right. Or if Gardner gets his medical RS. I shouldn't have made it sound so black and white.

LT would start next year. Jones probably not, but never say never. There is Gardner's spot to fill as he'll probably be spending more time as qb over wr. No doubt we should take LT if we can get him.

    I don't think he's planning to.

It's neat how things can come full circle sometimes. He grew up in Pickerington, and was friends and teammates with both Taco Charlton and Jake Butt when they were younger. Now, having moved twice in the past few years, he gets a chance to team up with those two again for the next 4-5 years.

    Awesome....triple tag team

So... the inevitable question about what this means for Treadwell or Conley arises. I'll say that it means Conley is gone. Doesn't say anything about Treadwell IMO.

    Or I'm wrong.

I agree, Conley's done and I'm thinkin the coaches offered his spot to Demario and will continue to recruit Treadwell.

While I'm not too optimistic about Conley, I think this was Dawson's spot being given away. If Conley leaves, we'll address his spot then.

The coaches are apparently pursuing a lot of OLs still so I'm more inclined to say this is a sign of further attrition then replacing Dawson.

  • I am excited about this kid. When I watch this kid I see all of the things than he will need in order to make him a weapon on any college offense. He may not be rated highly because of lack of use early in his HS career but he possesses the potential to not only be a player on Offense but also is the need comes for him to play Defense. Never hurts to add great speed, athleticism and pretty good size also. Love the pick up......10.8....That's fast!!!!

  • This kid may possess the best explosiveness of all of the players Michigan has landed at receiver in the last few classes. Not a small kid either, not a giant but big enough to play over small corners. This kid has a tremendous amount of potential which is a scary word but I love this as a solid back up plan for a failure to land Treadwell. GO BLUE!!!!

Would it make sense for the coaches to wait on this offer? I think Jones is solid, but I would rather not have him infringe on the courting process with Treadwell until Treads makes his decision. We are talking about a top 5 WR in the nation, and no need to ruffle his feathers. We are increasing our risk in his recruitment with this new commitment somewhat, and its not necessary because Jones would have committed on NSD

The ship has sailed, but you are probably right as you seem to know more than the coaches who made the decision. Maybe not.

No.. it wouldn't make sense to wait. Other Big Ten teams were starting to show interest and were close to offering. Let's say Jones got a Purdue or Wisconsin offer and de-committed from CMU to commit there. It just became A LOT harder to pry him away from a 2nd commitment to a B1G school.

And you're worried about ruffling feathers? Are you serious? They've been extremely patient with Treadwell and reiterated after Jones committed that he's still their top target.

The door is still opend for Treadwell. He knows he is good and would play next year if he committed. Chances are the other three WRs in this class going to most likely redshirt next year anyways.

Jones was already invited by Pitt & Tenn to take official visits. We will (eventually) have room to take up to 25 in this class. The chances of us landing all of our remaining targets are very slim. We will have room for Treadwell, no matter what. Jones could move to safety. In fact, I wouldn't doubt that our coaches view him as the probable Plan B to McQuay.
