Will Meyer be left with scraps at OL?

  • Yeah, I agree with Star, lets not pretend like these guys will flip if Michigan wants them to. We laugh at the Domers, Buckeyes and Sparty's when they say that.

Can you guys do me a personal favor? Sign Pocic too to complete your OL haul. I want to see the censoredstorm that erupts on Bucknuts when Pocic goes off the board to someone else.

I'm not saying we should, but it'd be really funny if we just opened up a 6th OL spot and snatched up Pocic.

That will make Urban "weak heart" Meyer very upset! Maybe that is why he is taking it easy and trying to remain calm.

We should. There, I said it for you.

  • Apparently, we aren't the only ones asking if Ohio will be left with OL scraps ...

I gotta admit, I find it pretty funny how often fans of teams (Including Michigan fans) always fall back to the "3 stars can end up being awesome and 5 stars always bust" mentality when their options dwindle.

Hearing that coming from OSU fans is better than most though.

I'm in the minority that thinks Pocic still has a spot if he wants it. There definitely was some information control going on with Pocic and McGovern after Kugler committed. Seeing the panic in Ohio, that's exactly what I think we should jump on. They want to make Pocic their number 1 priority? Guess what, make him our number one priority as well! This is 55% because I think Pocic is a hell of a player and on par with Kalis as anchors of our O-line and 45% wanting to hear what those dimwits say after they see Urban myth crumble before their eyes.

You know when you crush a rival in a game their fanbase goes 70% 'I'm pissed that we suck' and 30% 'hey, there's a silver lining'? That's what I want to see in this recruiting cycle. That and 'maybe Urban isn't god after all' sprinkled in as well.

  • From what I heard we are no longer in contact with Pocic IMHO this is a huge mistake. If we are going to take 8-10 more players, like has been reported then we should definitly take him. To say he is a beast is an understatment not to mention we would be destroying ohio and yes they would definitly be getting scraps.

  • Not everyone in Ohio is in panic mode. We are in better shape now that we were with Bollman who was intentionally taking 1 or 2 lineman a year. The other thing that has to be considered is that Meyer only has 9 spots left to fill due to the scholarship reductions. He has to be a little more selective. Not saying we haven't missed on a few guys we would love to have, because we have. Just saying that it is the fringe fans that are yelling the sky is falling.

    but_why_not

  • If this coaching staff really believes that a football team should be built up from the trenches, and if they are willing to save a spot or two for special players at positions that aren't glaring needs(Cravens, Levenberry, Isaac), then why would Pocic be treated differently? Just after the Kugler commitment news, Pocic talked with the coaches and was told that he had a spot if he wanted it. Then the next day when that news seemed to be causing a ripple, Pocic backtracked and said, somewhat cryptically, "they are full now."

Now, with McGovern there wasn't any backtracking involved. He said that they were full but they were still interested in case a spot opened up. But to my best knowledge, this McGovern quote came out after the Pocic backtrack. What's more important is that McGovern took an unofficial AFTER all this. McGovern is a highly recruited prospect and he doesn't have to beg for spots. And he lives in Illinois, not Flint, MI, so why would he make a trip at the height of his recruitment to a place that MIGHT have a spot open up for him AT THE END OF THE RECRUITING CYCLE?

So there, the Nutcracker's conspiracy theory and why I believe we're still in the thick of Pocic's recruitment. stir

That's fair. Some of your brethren should take a cue from you and take a break from deifying Urban. We laugh at it, but the 'only reason that kid went to so and so was because Urban didn't want him' talk does get tiresome.

I guess I'm in the minority, too. But I think it's closer to 50/50. I think Pocic still enjoys the thought of playing for Hoke. Whether or not it happens, I'd say 25% chance (just a wild guess).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Laremy Tunsil still saying he wants to visit at some point?

I think Laremy has been saying for a while that he wants to visit, and honestly, that may be the reason Pocic isn't getting as much consideration. I think the coaches are willing to open up a 6th spot for an absolutely elite OL, and truth be told, if it came down to Pocic or Tunsil, I'd take Tunsil 99 times out of 100.

I believe Tunsil is staying in the South, but I think the coaches are slow-playing Pocic a bit just to see how the entire class shakes out and how our spots fill up.

  • scUM is only out recruiting us bc they are getting quality guys that we don't want or need.

I laughed at this. Becasue, it is clear they wouldnt want or need Bosch, Fox, Dawson, LTT, or Kugler.
