Will Meyer be left with scraps at OL?

  • I have little doubt Jones will be a Buckeye in the end. He's always maintained that he'll take visits despite committing.

That said, the reactions in that thread are entertaining.

This thread cares, otherwise why talk about OSU OL recruiting? As far as I'm aware there are no 78 page threads on Michigan WR recruiting on any OSU forum I've been to lately lol.

lol Fair point. We care about it for differing reasons, but we sure as heck care a bit.

That's because our WRs are going to be much better then the sh*t olinemen you guys have been bringing in. If the WRs we are recruiting were as censored as the Olinemen you guys have been bringing in then I'm sure you guys would have a thread as well.biggrin

Hey, be nice to dukeluke, he's one of the very few good Bucknut posters who come over here.

  • Always nice to hear about Urb potentially missing out on Olinemen in his backyard, because up to this juncture he really hasn't proven he can recruit big guys outside of Ohio.

I was screwing around 110%. I didn't see a sarcasm emoticon so I thought the smiley face might cover that for me.

This is the truth: Dodson, Decker, Lisle, and now Jones. He hasn't gotten a single major OL recruit to stick from outside the state of Ohio.

Personally I think right now on paper we got the better interior guys, but they have the better exterior guys at DE. It actually is a lot closer then I thought it would be for Dline talent, but I gotta give this one to OSU right now.

    THIS. This nails it.

The question for them is can they replace Hankins, who helped cover a lot of their LB deficiencies in the run game.

For us the question is whether we can get a consistent outside pass rush.

This is absolutely correct. He ate up two defenders every time, covered our ass a lot.

The hope is Michael Hill will be that guy. Army All American and similarly built to Hankins.

  • OSU has the better D Line at this point on paper. I'm kinda worried about Washington and Spence...that's a heck of tandem. But Poggi, Hurst Jr, and Pipkins is awesome too. This is what I see....I compare that DL they have to South Carolina's DL. You don't wanna get into passing downs on them, but can maybe exploit them on the run game. We're the opposite, you prolly won't be able to run up the middle on us but we may struggle at time with a pass rush on the outside. If Wormley and Taco become studs....WATCH THE F*** OUT

One thing to keep in mind is that the top tier teams in the B10, including OSU, are not generally passing teams. They are predominantly run oriented. That can change, but as of now it's far more important to have a strong rushing defense than a strong passing defense in the B10.

I would agree with what you said but all the hype they had about how much better they're D-line was then ours was over blown we have better DT's then they do. Put that with our O-Line and I would take our 2 Lines over they'res any day.

Isn't Adolphus Washington going to move inside? He is kinda like Christ Wormley they both out grew them self's out of DE and will both likely move inside.

As long as he maintains his speed, he'll play SSDE, the role previously manned by John Simon. OSU uses it as a DT/DE tweener position.

  • I was really surprised to look at that and think that our D line recruiting the last 2 years is actually realistically as good as the buckeyes. That is definately where they have recruited best the last 2 years and I didn't realize how good ours was until now. OSU's still might be a little better, but wait til next year with Mone already on board, Hand and Mcdowell thinking highly of us and us being in on several other solid D lineman!

If Michigan picks up Hand and Mcdowell to go along with Mone it lights out for OSU they wont be able to hang they're hat on they're D-line anymore.
