I don't think anyone on here expected this thread to go this long. But then Meyer whiffed on another, and another, and then whiffed on the entire cycle. Says more about hot bad you're OL recruiting was to me. The thread goes on until Meyer isn't left with scraps.

Pretty much, though most of the ranting seems to be by Buckeye fans.

It's ok, it's a Michigan board so what are you supposed to do? No worries, our "lack" of an OL last year worked out pretty well. Our fanbases will talk about anything we can about the other to make us feel better. As it turns out, it's all fun, hell, why be rivals if we can't talk a little junk back and forth.

  • First of all, I think its awesome a thread can go 60+ pages, lol.

I guess its only natural for Buckeye fans to embrace their current coaches strategy but I would prefer Hoke's strategy even if I weren't a U of M fan. I believe it all starts (or ends quickly) at the line. Whoever controls the line controls the game. I have to give Meyer props on d-line recruiting but when it comes to the o-line he has settled for a handful of in-state four stars backed up by a bunch of three stars and converts from the d-line (hence the title scraps). People who think you can just plug any extra body into a line spot are in for a rude awakening. There's a big difference between an okay line and a really good one.

Honestly, the team that's won 3 of the last 4 national championships has proven that you can win a NC with a monstrous offensive line and power running game, a beastly defense, and a game manager QB who can take advantage of play-action shots downfield and can make some throws when called upon to do so. Hoke brought in the 2nd-best OL class in 2012 and the best OL class in 2013, the #1RB in the country and 2 other beasts at RB, we've got Mattison coordinating a D that was good even with RR recruits, and we've got two more years of Devin Gardner and undoubtedly more good QBs coming. I think we're in a pretty good place, and we're only getting better.

Yep, since Finnin reaffirmed his commitment to Nebraska, that's all the 2013 OLs.

    On to 2014!

Update for the first post, OSU offered Chad Mavety, a 2014 JUCO OL from NY.

Hopefully Meyer and Warriner read this so they can learn a thing or 2 about the OL and how/who to recruit. "Rude awakening" haha. Just like last year the tOSU OL will be better than yours in '13. Lisle > any of your OL in this class. Boom!

Did you watch the Super Bowl? The MVP's were clearly the Ravens offensive line. Flacco had lots of time and the running back was often three yards down field before touched. Maybe the national championship game? How did the winning teams offensive line look in that game?

Also, you will notice you don't need SEC skill players(look at the skill positions for each Super Bowl team) if you have a dominate offensive line.

Good luck with your converted D-lineman

not to nitpick because this conversation is silly but according to 247 he is only rated as a 95. the composite on the other hand is a different story

The Bucknut is wrong either way.

In 247's rankings, Dawson is ahead of Lisle.

In the composite, Kugler is ahead of Lisle.

We don't even need to delve into Derrick Green's rankings.

Remember, ohio withdrew the offer to DG or the other rumor or "fact around Columbus" that he was never offered.

  • Both OSU and UM have had great, top 5 '12 and '13 classes. Which is exactly what the B1G needs desperately. No need for weenie-measuring contests chaps.

    Said with love lol.
