Will Meyer be left with scraps at OL?

  • Jack Daniels said...

Apparently, Finley had a good camp showing. But if Meyer wanted an in to Cass Tech, this is the only guy he can get, because he won't get an offer from Michigan.

Great move by Meyer. Since he's running out of options, getting an in at CT is a great move. Would rather see Finley go to MSU, or better yet, Wisc.

The fact these folks think I'm serious about star ratings is hilarious. My point multiple times as stated by others was these are plan C and D guys. Sonny D get some reading comprehension.

And be sure to check your site. Star ratings are serious there.

Seriously, I'm not arguing that these kids can't or won't be decent (Patrick Omameh anyone?) but the fact of the matter is that these are the leftovers after other programs have gone through and taken OSU's Plan A, B, and C guys. There's simply no denying that. Scraps can turn into something good, but they're still scraps.

The kid has added value to what he brings on the field simply because he is from Cass Tech. Not concerned about losing a quality player out of the state with this kid. More concerned with who he is friends with.

  • MSU fans are really kidding themselves. From their topic on Dennis Finely:

"I don't see it - I don't think Wisconsin will beat MSU head to head for an instate recruit. MSU has too much mojo, at this time."
    http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/94/13-MI-OT-Dennis-Finley-MSU-offer-10144428/2

Honestly, it is rather presumptuous to consider yourself a better head-to-head match-up with Wisconsin. Now that OSU has offered, this athlete will probably see his offer list explode. MSU is in a tough spot.

This...getting ur name at a big school like Cass, can not do anything but get the OSU name in their hallways.

As long as Coach Wilcher is there, nothing to worry about.

Dorian Johnson - OT ,4*, but his final two are Pitt and PSU, he's not leaving the state. Khaliel Rodgers - OG, 3*, just cancelled a visit to OSU, won't be camping anymore. Kyle Meadows - OT, 3*. Lovell Peterson - C, 3*. Tristan Nickelson - OT, 2*.

Those are the guys you have offers out to. As to the ones who don't have offers but have been recruited a bit recently:

Matt Miller - OG, 3*. Sam Coverdale - OT, 3*, just committed to Northwestern.

So, basically, yeah. Scraps. FFS, OSU has an offer out to a 2-star OT. You can't tell me that they wouldn't have rather had Pocic. Scraps all the way.

    looks like scraps to me.

I believe you are referring to Braden, 6'7" 300 lbs. He had early offers from MSU and Wisc but committed to us very early which likely prevented further offers. It's not the star status that makes a kid "scraps" its the sentiment that you are getting the last of the pickings. Still all relative though imo.

braden came from one of the best high schools in the state. there top 3 every year. you can take a guy like him when you have a 5 star kalis and two four star magnuson and bars to go with him.

  • Finley and Miller are good OL, and for OSU would be nice pickups. But they certainly are not top of the line guys. They could blow up (and with Finley, would not surprise me), but clearly they were not the top choice of top programs.

i agree i dont think many buckeye fans would argue. we have missed on our top targets and are already on plan B and C kids. I wish we wouldnt have but it is just truth. We are to thin to wait another year so im all for a project or a late bloomer. I would still like to see 2 more OT's even if they are not top tier guys.

Agreed. Especially on Miller. Seems like a tough versatile kid that can play where he is needed. I'm glad he got the OSU offer because he deserves it, but I really don't want to see him go to OSU.

So now I'm seriously crossing my fingers that he gets an offer.

  • Miller hasnt been offered.....yet

    Moephius

  • I like Miller a lot, saw him play last year. Finley has gotten a lot of talk recently. OSU would get a good one in either of these guys, regardless of rating. MSU is going hard after them too.

They will grab some decent 3 star kids. Those kids can still play but will they be able to handle the better Big Ten defenses is another question.

What happens when OSU starts out recruiting MSU in Michigan? Could happen ....

Won't matter much if they let MSU come into Ohio and pick up the low 4 star high 3 star kids in Ohio.
