You think that is bad, check out the odds that he, or whoever does it, puts out there for spartys chances with recruits. Pure comedy.

It's looking more and more like they are going to be left with scraps in LB recruiting this year too.

Sparty's domination is over. Yes .. yes .. they won the last 4 years. But, the tide has turned in the B-10. Their fan base SHOULD be concerned with the recruiting process for 2013. My goodness ... UM is so far ahead on 2014 they will never catch up now. Talk is cheap. Recruiting is gap-filled time consumption. The game is all that matters.

One with an arrogant HC who doesn't know anything about evaluating OL talent? shrug

Didn't Urban have a couple 1st round olinemen at Florida?

  • I'm interested to see if our coaches will take one more OL.

If they do, then I hope it is Darius Latham (assuming he wants to play in the B1G for Michigan).

I mention Latham because he can play on either both lines. So if we don't need him on the OLine, then we can switch him to the DLine and allow him to play as a DT or SDE.

I also like Latham because I recall him mentioning that he grew up liking Michigan and wanted a Michigan offer. I don't know if he ever got it.

Yeah Rainey got them to Florida not Meyer. But keep worshipping your God of a coach.

He got the offer but we're not in his top group. Pretty sure Tennessee is in good shape here.

    Thanks.

I think our coaches stopped heavily recruiting OL after the commits. I know that he was interested in Michigan prior to our string of OL commits.

Not really enough to make a trend lol.

yeah the twins are the only 1st rounders...in total he has had 5 OL men drafted. Overall in his time at FL, 30 of his players were drafted I believe. The D-Line has been his strong suit as far as getting players to the next level (10)

And how many of the D-line were Mattison's.

Idk, but he's not at UF any more. He was run out of there by Saban and Miles. And he no longer has Mattison and Strong, his two best recruiters. If your 2013 class is what we can expect from Urbie in terms of OL recruiting (and recruiting across the board, actually), Michigan should have no trouble controlling the current decade much like we did the 90s. In fact, much like we have the majority of decades we have played The Game:

    1890-1899: UM 1-0
    1900-1909: UM 9-0-1
    1910-1919: UM 3-1-1
    1920-1929: UM 6-4
    1930-1939: TIE 5-5
    1940-1949: UM 6-2-2
    1950-1959: TIE 5-5
    1960-1969: OSU 7-3
    1970-1979: OSU 5-4-1
    1980-1989: UM 6-4
    1990-1999: UM 7-2-1
    2000-2009: OSU 8-2
    2010-2011: TIE 1-1 (a)

    (a) Includes 2010 game vacated by OSU.

  • he was 3-3 vs Miles and 1-2 vs Saban...not exactly what I would call " dominated" be either of them, but to each his own. I think Urban has been a head coach long enough that you kinda know what to expect from him recruiting wise...his classes typically rank high and he wins alot of football games. 2013 has been a crappy year OL wise for us, but Id hardly think that is the norm, and with 8 months to go, it can still be salvaged. No Strong or Mattison, but his assistants now arent bad recruiters and tOSU is one of those schools that can sometimes recruit for itself, regardless of coaches. I think Urban will do just fine

Urban will absolutely be fine... defining what fine means is all relevant to who you ask. I think they'll compete for B10 titles year in and out (besides this year of course), but many ohio fans are saying that was Tressell's way now this is Meyer Time, and he's gonna be competing for NC's. That's a rough road ahead there.

I think the tough time w/ OL has overshadowed the tough time w/ LB. Still a long ways to go of course, but it's not fair to discredit Strong & Mattison acting like they had no impact. Urb himself said Mattison was the best recruiter in football.

  • Keep in mind Saban and Miles oversigned, and Urban never did. If Urban could have signed 8 extra players a year the outcome would have been different. And if we can land Pocic, well be just fine with the OL. We'll also get Lovell Peterson who just dominated the NFTC camp. This time last year he was considered one of the best OL for this class and had Bama and OSU in the Lead. Well last summer he got very sick and lost 50 pounds. Now he's getting his weight back and should earn an offer at camp. Remember last year guys, signing day is far far away!

  • And to the victors, don't overlook Fickell just because a bad season as a HC. The dude is a great defensive coach, look at his body of work from the last 8 years. There's a reason Urban kept him, urban obvioiusly knows good coordinators.

OSU fans always mention how a good defensive line will beat a good offensive line. Does that mean that Michigan's defensive line is going to abuse OSU's average at best offensive line in the coming years?

They say this only because in their last two BCS championships, the DLs for the opposition ravaged their OL. The problem is...that isn't always the case. USC had great OLs and won championships. Bama had a great OL last year, and LSU couldn't really touch them (their DL was out of this world too).

The reality is, OSUs OLs of the past have not been that great, especially compared to the SEC. Honest buckeye fans will admit that. Whether Hoke's future OLs can compete with SEC level defenses? Time will tell.

Its not even a fact. Look at our rose bowls against USC. We had flipping Woodley and Branch and their oline abused the heck out of them and made those two non-factors.
