Montelus is quite good. Wish his mother had opened her mind about PSU - he grew up a fan, but she didn't let him consider us. So be it.
I mentioned this on tBB - what does McGlinchey think about ND taking another OL? They supposedly told him there was only one OL spot left. And I have to say - that's a heck of a lot of OT's that ND has taken. How many are seriously going to see the field?

I agree - all the Bucknuts were saying that about our haul (that so many OTs can't see the field), but IMO at least 3, maybe 4, of ours will be OGs. It seems like all of ND's OL are best suited for OT at the moment. They'll be forced to move some of them inside and will end up with 6'6-6'7 guards, which is not ideal at all.

Exactly, it'll be interesting to see. Question for you. Who else are you looking at for OL? You seem in good shape (?) for Dorian Johnson (who is awesome, btw). Are you recruiting Pocic at all? I really really really want Pocic to go anywhere but OSU.

It was apparent that McGovern's first choice was Michigan but we were full by then. The offers don't really matter because Michigan was full by the time four out of those five guys decided. Of course an ND fan wouldn't take Michigan's O-line pull because anyone is going to like the kids that commit to their school over other recruits, me included. ND also has a problem with not having the balance of interior lineman. They'll most likely have to play a 6-6 kid at OG and that is a tough transition no matter the talent. I said it was a very good pull by ND, and it is. The objective information suggests that Michigan's is preferable.

Just looking at current NFL rosters, it looks like Coach Meyer had 5 OL players he coached (as a HC) on active rosters in the NFL this season. Michigan has 6 right now. With your recent recruiting, that number will probably go up for Michigan over the next 4 years. But, I think it will for tOSU as well. Coach Meyer's spread system uses mobile linemen, but still with pro-style size. Other versions of the spread, Rich Rodriguez's and Oregon's, place a premium on speed over size and end up with smaller linemen as a result.
I think that the recruiting shows where both coaches want to go. It seems like Coach Hoke wants a big, physical road grading offensive line that lets you run like the Badgers and do plenty of play action. That fits with his stated intent to move more pro-style on offense. Coach Meyer wants linemen that can play in space and hold the point of attack. I don't think tOSU will be able to line up and run like the badgers, but it fits well with his idea of getting the ball to athletes in space and moving the pocket to pass. It should be fun watching both systems evolve as we get the players we need and it looks like both are executing on their recruiting goals fairly well.
