That would be awesome, but I don't see it happening.
Southern schools act like location doesn't matter, but remember how craptastic the Tampa Bay Bucs were when the weather dropped below 40 degrees. I would love to have that advantage late in the season or in a bowl game.

Evidently not. It's my belief, and I believe that of your AD that we as a conference have a better shot at a mythical NC vs a playoff NC. Maybe he just wants to protect the rosebowl. I think he's thinking beyond that. I've been wrong a million times before and if you so choose to attempt to insult me again, it won't change my opinion or what the millions of SEC fans think about his proclamation.

Wed have a much better chance IMO. The SEC knows it too. Wed fill those up and our lads have braved that stuff for years. Those summer weather schools would be worrying about staying warm while we were taking 4 yards a pop and watching their offense slow down on frozen tundra.

You serious? I think he is doing a great job of branding. Look at the coaches he has brought in. Look at how he carried out those processes. I am not sure how you can question his judgement or what you are referring to. Maybe you could shed some like on that.
It's all about the Rose Bowl. Right now the Big has a pretty sweet deal with having the winner go to the best bowl game there is. Why give it up? Personally I don't get the whole playoff chatter. Show we where the BCS has gotten it wrong. Show me one year where the best team in the country was not the national champion. Bama would have crushed OSU. LSU would have crushed OSU. A playoff system does one thing, you can say the teams who wins earns it with little question, but they may not be the best team in the country. We see this in basketball all the time. Won't be a huge deal with only a 4 team playoff, but if it gets expanded it sure will.
Another thing is that all the playoffs will more than likely be in warm weather states. How does this help the big at all? Let's play a SEC team in SEC country year after year. Sure that really helps the Big?

Our AD is like everyone else. He is entitled to his opinion about whether he prefers a playoff to the traditional bowl system or not. And just because he publicly states a preference for the bowl system, it does not follow that such preference derives from a belief that UM cannot play with the big boys. And for a poster who is notorious for trolling UM fans on tBB (and who was finally banned for doing so) to come to the UM board and suggest otherwise is trolling.
FWIW, you are not even right mathematically, as Nigel has pointed out. The reduced odds that any team has in winning a 4-team playoff compared to a single game for all the marbles is exactly offset by the increased probability of making it into a 4-team versus a 2-team field. You need to dust off your old probability textbook and brush up.

True he did a very well choosing a coach who put together a tremendous staff. The need to debate on taking the band to a prime time nationally exposed game against the defending national champions not a good idea. I believe this episode played out for the sugar bowl as well? Our fight song is a significant part of our brand, would you agree? His former career touched on some of these same decisions as CEO of Domino's.

We disagree. It's my belief that the AD at Michigan is doing his job. No dig is meant by this. Until we have a more perfect system, every AD should fight for what's going to benefit their school more. On a side note, I do believe the SEC is the strongest conference. That's not a shot at MSU or Wisconsin or OSU or PSU or UM or Nebraska. All of those schools have decent competitive squads more than capable of beating the sec on any given day as of now. I just think the sec is a pretty damn good conference top to bottom right now.
I'm also in the line that says Michigan can beat bama next fall if your defense can win the day and Borgess finds a way to shorten the game. Like I say, a punchers chance.

That's all your going to say? Bring something to the debate. Show me one year the BCS champion was not the best team in the country. That was the goal of the BCS when it was formed and I am hard pressed to find where that didn't happen. So it has worked. The other BCS games are just fluff and hardly matter. They have proved time and time again it is more about money than fairness. So again I ask that you show me how it hasn't worked.

But, why does Brandon prefer the traditional bowl system? He previously said (of a playoff system) "it's not going to be fair". Is that just a poor choice of words? Why would it not be fair?
Are you in favor of the 4 team playoff? Or do you support the position of your AD?

The fairness comes into play in the same way it does now. How do you pick the 4 teams? Would you have chosen Standord over Oregon last year even though Oregon won the Pac last year? Do you only take conference champs which would of left out what turned out to be the best team in Bama? If so, which conference champs? Do the non BCS conference teams like Boise get a chance? All you are doing with a 4 team playoff is adding 2 more teams but you still have the same BS of humans choosing to put in teams they "think" are better than other teams who are just as deserving.
In my opinion you either go to a 16 team playoff or ditch the BCS all together and go back to the original Bowl system. With 16 teams in a playoff no really deserving team would be left out.

...says you. How can you really know how LSU or Alabama would have fared against a legitimate passing attack like OK St or Stanford (or USC, if eligible)? If the NFL didn't play the Super Bowl but instead picked a champion based on polled opinion on who "would have won," Tom Brady would be sitting on an extra couple of championship rings right now. Teams should have to earn championships on the field, and that means a playoff.
PS: A fair few people (including myself) thought Alabama would beat LSU last year, but no one but the most delusional homers thought Alabama would wafflecrush LSU the way they did. Predicting what will happen in football games, especially football games between two really skilled teams, is not that easy...if it were, we'd all be rich from sportsbetting.

Again, it's my belief he's trying to do what's best for his school. We obviously disagree. You can continue your stuff about trolling or unreadable posts, it just doesn't matter to me. I think he's doing what's best for Michigan. If you find that upsetting, I apologize.
