Who should we schedule now that the ND series is over?

  • One of the things I didn't like about scheduling ND is that it meant playing the same team who was usually pretty bad when Ohio got to play USC, Texas, Miami etc. We can now play in Knoxville, Baton Rouge, Austin, Norman, Los Angeles etc. while keeping 7 and 8 home games. Who would you like Michigan to schedule?

  • My opinion, Georgia, a Florida school, a Texas school, a North Carolina school, a Virginia school, a California school. All locations with solid prospects.

    Good question. I would like to see Michigan play a school out west like USC because of how active Michigan is in recruiting Arizona/California.

  • I want Michigan to play Georgia in the second week of 2015.

    But we'll have one hell of a schedule if we did take on Georgia on 09.12.2012: @ Utah / Georgia / Oregon State/ UNLV.

    That's a full BCS schedule reminiscent of the days of Schembechler when Michigan consistently played all good teams out-of-conference.

    And that's not even considering that Michigan will play @ Michigan State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, @ Illinois, Nebraska, @ Northwestern, @ Iowa, and Ohio.

    However, that would give Michigan only 6 home games for 2015.

  • Conference realignment destroys existing rivalries and tradition. The fans lose out because of this. Would you knowingly use money for this purpose?? What about the fans?? Why is it always about the conference commissioners?

  • As a few of you have said, I think the ideal situation would be to play a winnable game against a respectable opponent that's located in a key recruiting area for Michigan. With UCLA trending upward, that was the first school that came to mind for me. USC would also be attractive, but in general, that's a more difficult game, and with a four-team playoff system, I'm not sure that that's necessary for Michigan to do.

    Other options would be to get into Florida, Georgia or South/North Carolina. So Florida, FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina or North Carolina would also work.

  • And throw Texas in there as well. They've looked better this year, but I'm not convinced that they're fully back to juggernaut status. They might be by that point, but that would still be a heck of a game.

  • RR and the cats in Tucson. I would go simply for the chicks. Oh and football! Other teams would be UVA, Oregon Washington(use to be a slight rival) Texas. Whoever there all good.

    I read somewhere that Florida has not played an out-of-state OOC game in this decade.

    That's just shocking.

    That really is shocking. FSU is obviously locked in as an OOC game for them every year, and that's traditionally a pretty tough game. And Florida sometimes plays Miami as well. But you'd still think they'd play another BCS OOC opponent in the years where Miami isn't on the schedule.

    Yeah, 6 home games might be a problem. Brandon was on the radio today talking about how Michigan needs 7 home games in order to meet revenue needed for our other sports programs.

    I would like to see an SEC school added to our non-conference schedule.

  • Why not play Bama each and every year. Great recruiting and revenue game and would give great television access to recruits from both north and south regions.

    Sounds good to me. Starting when the ND series ends should be about right for the talent Hoke has coming in.

    I know this would probably never happen, but if Michigan does add a warm-weather school (PAC 12 or SEC) to its OOC schedule, I'd love to see it played sometime after October 15. All bowl games are played in climates where the PAC 12 and SEC schools are most comfortable. It'd be nice to see what those teams can do in the elements.

    Off the top of my head, I can't remember a B1G team playing an OOC game that late in the season in recent memory, but SEC and ACC schools do this on a pretty regular basis.
