Which schools have excelled at producing NFL quarterbacks

Which college program has earned the title of Quarterback U during the past 15 years? We take a look.

We have as good a claim as anyone. Arguably USC has had a few more highly successful college QBs, but few of those have done anything in the NFL.

I consider a school to be the U if the kids produce in the NFL, stop with this garbage if they are good in college.

Honestly, it's silly. "____ U" has always indicated a team that produced NFL talents at that position. USC is RB U, PSU is LB U, Miami is (was?) TE U, Michigan is OL U and has a claim at QB U, etc., etc.

Has anyone seen Purdue's history of QBs?
Len Dawson, Bob Griese, Jim Everett, and now Drew Brees.
The first two are Hall of Famers while Brees is on his way to the Hall of Fame.
Even Kyle Orton has had a few respectable seasons in the NFL.

Yep, I wrote all that in the thread until I realized he said last 15 years. Either way, the justification that "recruits care most about high draft picks" is ridiculous. Would a recruit rather hear "Our school produced Tom Brady" or "Our school produced Mark Sanchez/Jamarcus/any other bust."
Now, saying "We've produced a bunch of first round picks at QB" is very attractive even if they bust, but how he discounts the recruiting ability of throwing a superstar's name out there is beyond me.
Purdue can say "Our QB's have won 4 Super Bowls (not to mention 3 AFL championships), had 4 top 5 picks, and 2 HOFers with Brees who will make it 3." You'd be hard pressed to top that.

This analysis is BS. Many of these top draft picks they used were busts.

Haha I had the same reaction....Yeah our QBs stunk for the RR years, but something like every QB from Grbac to Henne at least played in the NFL, with one of them turning out to be one of the GOAT.
But yeah, 14 makes sense...hahaha

I guess I found it weird to only use draft picks within the first three rounds when so many draft picks bust regardless of the round they were taken in. I'd have Michigan at least at third, if not on the top.

I think it's to avoid the downvote/upvote battles that seem to happen every time Steve posts on sites other than Bucknuts. Our board insider did the same thing a couple times for his articles.

Yes, Michigan has produced some very good OL through the years. But according to ESPN 2012 list of active rosters, USC has 10 OL NFL players, OSU 8, Michigan and Wisconsin 7. I would not, nor the average college football fan, consider UM as "OL U"!

FWIW I personally would have had Michigan in the top five. Tom Brady is all that needs to be said. He is my all-time favorite QB, along with Steve Young.
