Which RB will replace Toussaint?????

How much experience did the replacement have last season (# games/yds, etc)?
Smith is listed as #2 on most boards but Rawls seems more likely. If the weight is correct, Smith seems too small for the first game.

I don't think Denard will be running as much this year. Denard having another big year running between 1,100-1,300 would indicate no improvement in his passing game and it would indicate our offense as a whole has not improved much... which I don't think will be the case. I don't see him rushing for over 1,000 yards again nor do I want him too. I would settle for between 700-800 and seeing his passing numbers increase. Borges won't be calling a ton of designed runs (some, sure, but not a ton) for Denard, so most of Denard's runs will probably be scrambles. And a QB who scrambles too much usually isn't reading the defense very well and is leaving passing yards on the field.
If Denard breaks 1,100-1,300 k range rushing again, I think we're going to lose several games this season at the very least.

Yep. Rawls had a good spring so hopefully he can make the most out of this opportunity.

Thomas Rawls, no doubt. Hopefully Fitz is able to come back for conference play. This is a bummer.

The coaches obviously like what Rawls brings to to the field, and he game time experience. Pretty sure the coaching staff doesn't really like Smith as more than a third down back.

Definitely Rawls. VIncent Smith wouldn't make it out of the Bama game as an every down back. Rawls fits the mold of a Bama back actually. 5'10-5'11 220lbs+, with good, not great speed.

Unfortunately for Rawls, Bama-style backs have been finding success running behind overwhelming offensive lines. Michigan won't have that in week one.

I was speaking just for the Bama game. He will need to run a lot in that game for us to win. Like 200 yds rushing and 200 passing for 5 total TD's

Before you guys all jump off a cliff, Mike Hart wasn't the starting running back coming into the '04 season and Fitz wasn't the starter coming into last season. Don't be surprised if someone unexpected steps up.

FWIW, I believe Smith has bulked up since we last saw him. Not sure where this leaves his speed, but I'm sure he'd be fine either way. He is our best 3rd down back atm...

Fitz wasn't the team's starting RB entering 2011. Mike Hart wasn't the starting RB in '04. Give the RB2 a shot before jumping off a cliff.

Well I'm jumping. Fitz Toussaint was very underrated and anyone that runs for 1000 yds in 7 games with sharing carries with Denard gets my vote. WOW I'm pissed.

No Brandt on our roster, not sure who that is. I'd bet that Rawls gets the majority of the carries. A little background on him: True sophomore, bowling ball type of RB, broke all of Mark Ingrams HS records in the Flint area.
