When Michigan introduces our pro set WCO that is when

  • our recruiting will blow away the charts. Currently with D Rob we run a West Coast Spread Hybrid attack. When we implement the full WCO Pro Set offense, then everything about Michigan will change. Michigan will recruit as good if not better than USC. Then the athletes ND are currently getting will see the light, as will athletes in the SEC who want a real education.

Yes I wrote what I wrote and like it or not, face the facts the truth is undeniable. Sure, there are a number of schools who wish Michigan to not return to being Michigan. But remember, during the 70's Michigan and ohio may have been the greatest tandem in the history of CFB. But since the B1G only went to 1 bowl game we will never know.

But consider this, a world wide fan base, largest stadium (and getting substantially bigger soon) in the country, most televised CFB in the history of Television and so much more. Any player would want this opportunity, not forgetting the greatest tradition in CFB.

  • Al Borges calls it the Gulf Coast Offense.

    Quick, controlled passes
Give the QB and receivers the ability to make reads on the fly
Many different formations in order to create a mismatch
Equal amount of passing and running
Utilizes the running back as receivers
Accurate and mobile QB that can read and react
Tight ends who can catch better than they can block

Gulf Coast Offense: Borges @ Auburn '04-'07 | mgoblog

Found this posted on Auburn blog Wardamntailgate.com in 2004 in regards to Al Borges offense LINK Al Borges had his work cut out for him as did the Tiger offense. I think we can all agree that this is an understatement.

  • While it would be great to recruit on the level of USC, I don't see that happening as soon as we just show our offense.
By on the level, I just mean the sheer top end talent in numbers, I am not saying that I am unhappy with our recruiting.
They always seem to pull 3 top 20 kids every year. I will be happy with 3 top 50.

USC is USC. They have the pretty girls, they have the beaches, and they have a very good program. Recruits love that. I don't think anybody in CFB can compete with that.

Can you provide a source/link that proves we are the "most televised CFB in the history of television?" Also, we are all well aware there are plans to add seating at the Big House, how "soon" is this to happen according to your sources/links/articles you've come across? And how much "substantially bigger" will the Big House become?

  • I like the enthusiasm, but I think we should leave the grand pronouncements and guarantees to the Bucknuts - I don't like making bold predictions that could blow up in our faces. Take it one year at a time - Brady Hoke has been absolutely amazing so far, and I want it to continue, but I'm not going to jump to any conclusions.

Michigan is by far the most televised college football program:

    http://www.mgoblue.com/datadump/Football/Articles/2000s/2008-2009/fbl-2008-yearbook-56-84.pdf

I have been following Michigan since 1963. How soon for an expansion? I do not know because I am NOT an insider. However D Brandon mentioned in the last 1.5 years his vision was about 12K seats or more in the upper bowl end zones beginning in the south end upper bowl. When both end upper bowls are completed the Big House may be in the 135k range plus a 5k overflow, topping out around 140k +/-.

Remember, I am not an insider and I am not guaranteeing anything, just mentioning what I saw in a doc on a board. I have heard on boards where these numbers may be correct based upon a conceptual drawing someone said they have seen. Again remember it is all speculation until a press release states construction will begin, but knowing Michigan, if the demand is there and the money is there it is a done deal. I am glad it is D Brandon's call, not mine!

I think some poster did an artistic rendition of what the Big House would look like if the upper bowl were built to enclose the scoreboards. I thought it looked pretty cool, I'll link it if I can find it.

I have heard it said that when this happens at Michigan it will basically stop the massive rush to expand to have the biggest stadium. Many schools just may lose attendance numbers if they expand to much. Michigan's demand is sickly exciting. GO BLUE!cheers

I wonder if we will be able to fill it for games against EMU, or we will just concede the fact that it won't be full for the meh games.

Keep in mind that we may be going to 9 or 10 conference games with a substantial OOC schedule. Therefore, the packages of games we would be able to attend would be huge. I could see full season packages and half season packages. Half season packages could include an even mix of the games thus assuring sellouts. Could offer more ticket packages to our opponents as well which would cause more visiting fans to attend games in Ann Arbor. All in all, when the decisions are made to proceed, rest assured the work will be done in time for the next season to begin. This truly would cause the Big House to become a very intimidating place to play. Our home field advantage would be huge! SEC schools are scared to come here now. This would make it where even more will be that much more intimidated than before.

  • I just don't see us being able to *consistently* outrecruit USC.

Michigan doesn't have access to one of the richest concentrations of talent in the land. Hence, Michigan has to recruit the entire Midwest and then expand nationally.

On the other hand, USC can recruit JUST its own state and probably put together a top 15 (if not top 10) class. Once it goes beyond California, USC can build a top 5 or top 3 class on paper.

What, we are a national recruiter, we can, have and will recruit equal to or better than USC when giving our coaches half a chance.

We do not need a rich concentration of talent in our back yard. Once our brand is back on top from the last 3/4 years we will again go anywhere, in any home, anytime and get the talent.

We will own the state of Mich and will control most of the mid-west and get who we want nationally. We will get back to where Issac would not spurn a better program with better opportunity. Michigan has done this for ever, and now with this staff we will take it up a notch.

I hate to say it, but just face the truth. Not all kids want to go to Michigan, you'll find top kids who want to go to USC, Bama, Texas, etc. And can you blame them? All of those schools have great tradition that rivals Michigan's. All of those schools, minus Bama, have great Academics. Michigan will recruit well, and it could conceivably get better than it is now. But Michigan, as with every other school in the nation, will never simply have their pick of the litter.

Alabama didn't have their pick of the litter until recently. If we can string together success like alabama then we can be worldbeaters on the recruiting trail too.

Even Alabama doesn't get their pick of the litter. No school ever will, there are just some kids who grow up liking other schools more than Bama.
