What recruits are leaning heavily towards UM?

  • With the proposed move to the 35 yard line, the return game will become less critical. I don't know what the percentage of touchbacks is now, but it'll definitely go up.

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

Gallon we pretty friggin solid this year. Sure he didn't hit the homerun, but he was batting 300. He was averaging 10 yards a pop on his punt returns which is not bad.

KR is where we struggled, hope Norfleet snags that spot, or Hayes.

Agreed, he was solid, ball security being a key. He wasn't a game changer, that is all I am saying. With that said, game changer returnmen can be hard to come by.

Yeh, it's so weird at a school like Michigan, there has been so much trouble getting legit return men since Breaston. A great return man can be so valuable also.

  • The last homerun return I recall was Stonum against Notre Dame in the Tate game i beleive.

I think Michigan fans are quick to dismiss Urban Meyer when we would have been more than thrilled if he came to Michigan after lloyd or after RR. I think he is a good coach who obviously can recruit like crazy. Here is the thing...Urban or should I say Hole and Co. will not allow the rivalry to be how it was when Tressel was in CBus. That pressure alone will get to Urban down the road. He's actually got HUGE shoes to fill, which is odd to say, but the Vest did put up an impressive track record. Urban will be a model citizen for these first years, but inevitably, I feel he will feel the pressure to much and cut a corner here and there and get burned. Getting Dunn to settle in with his commitment, while great for OSU and bad for UofM, will be the first of broken promises. Meyer does not know how to utilize a back like Dunn. He promised the kid the stars, out of spite of him going to a rival, when he probably should have let him go to Michigan where the kids true talents can be utilized. Teh recruitment of Dunn was moreso for Michigan NOT to get him. Dymonte Thomas will realize this and hopefully some Ohio HS coaches will see this as well

Funniest thing I've read all day. Take off your scarlet classes there, bud.

I have stated many times that I have them on and put out that disclaimer. I could be completely wrong and if I am I will state that I was. I just think things are going to a different level for both teams. This is going to becomes an arms race and only top talent will cut it.

You mean that average RB that hung 120 yards on you last year, 6.0 per rush? He's not as highly regarded as B. Herron, who tore us up for 37 yards, right? The two guys that racked up damn near 300 yards rushing against your D are back, we'll be 'okay'. I just hope we can stay within 4 TD's of you folks.

I just see this going to a different level for booth teams. I dont think are Oline class for 2012 made the cut. I think good will not cut it for either team I see it as great or bust.

What exactly did Meyer promise Dunn? I'm an OSU fan and I come in peace, not here to troll. Personally I don't get this Dunn can't play in a spread stuff, if you can play you can be very successful in any offense. And this spread is a different version than Rich-Rod's and Oregon's, this is going to be more of a power spread. Urban has always had a great relationship with the high school coaches in Ohio from his days at Bowling Green and as an assistant at ND and has never cut corners then so why would he now? Why would he have to make unnecessary promises to get Ohio kids when most of them grew up dreaming of playing for Ohio State.

Well, I think Urban promised him a power running game. If he does that, great...I have never really seen it from Urban, except running with Tebow. Time will tell.

Remember DeShawn Wynn was 230 at UF.

And Deshawn Wynn did nothing until he went to the NFL.

Dunn followed his heart and good for him, but from a football standpoint it was a questionable decision.

DeShawn Wynn was awful in college. The most he ran for in a season was 600 yards.

Over 2,000 rushing yards? almost 400 receiving yards 25 TDs.

Dunn has a better chance to be the feature back at UM I have to give you that. With that said hes not destined to ride the pine.

2,000 yards in 4 seasons is not impressive.

When you look at his 4 years, it's nothing special. He didn't have a single stellar year and he couldn't even average 5 yards a carry in college.

If the debate is Where does he have a better chance to get carries Its UM no question about about it. If the question is will he have a chance to play at OSU the answer is yes. No doubt he has the better chance to be a feature back at UM.

He also has a better o-line at Michigan, an offense more traditionally suited for him. He went to school for the team he cheered for, good for him. I hope he gets snaps when he plays, cuz Peewee will knock his head off.

Based of the 2012 class I'll give you that. More traditional O ill give you that as well. Fallowed his heart check that box as well.

Exactly, I'm not criticizing Dunn. I'm just saying that Meyer used that tactic to get him, which is all fair in recruiting.

Dunn went where his heart was...regardless of the snakeoil Urban Lyer used. I think it is better for us in a way...We can show guys like Issac that he would be the go to guy and not a shadow to Dunn.

  • I would rather have 2 Hott chicks compared to one. These kids all think they are going to play. I think we as fans overestimate the whole depth chart factor. Look at Texas they get a top 5 RB every year. the fact is there is no sure thing and you have to play the numbers game.

Well except when Jordan Diamond's mom says in an interview that she thinks UM got too many OL and wasn't sure if Jordan would play enough.

  • I don't think Dunn made the wrong choice, per se. But if you want a chance at the NFL, bigger numbers matter. More carries matter. For a RB, that is the lifeblood of success. So I hope it works out for Dunn. I think he may be disappointed.

  • Dunn made the right decision for him. Athletes choose schools for different reasons just like students do. If your lifelong dream is to go to ohio state, then it's hard to beat that. Can't fault the kid for going to his childhood favorite.

Recruiting is all about selling. Michigan tried to sell the chance to be a feature back in a pro-style offense. Meyer promised to get him carries at his childhood favorite. No wrong decision there.

  • If you could take one more player right now from Ohio who would it be? This is in a perfect world for a UM fan were every kid is a UM lean.
