Week 16: Trey Burke Big Ten Player Of The Week

  • After a 29 point performance against Penn State and a solid game against MSU, Burke has been awarded the Big Ten Player of the Week honors. Perhaps more interesting, Tom Crean (Indiana head coach) had a major freakout at his press conference today about Burke winning the award because Michigan went 1-1 last week. Doesn't make much sense to me considering that Burke actually was one of the few Wolverines to play well in that game and he was fantastic against Penn State.

I believe it's just through a weekly teleconference through the media.

I don't know what Crean actually said but i can see why someone would think Trey shouldn't of won the award. I honestly don't think Trey was that good against MSU. Yes he put up nice stats but his overall effort was lackluster. I also felt like against Penn State Trey was horrible defensively. It just seems like the people choosing who wins the award just looks at stats and doesn't even watch the games.

Basically he asked how much was the team winning a factor in the decision on who to give the award to
