I made this post on the Odenigbo thread but I'll post it here again.

...I didn't want to say this before but I am just not high on Yuri Wright. I've seen some tape on him from his HS regular season and he does not impress me. I think people are too caught up in his potential but people need to realize that his learning curve is steep. I hope the Michigan coaches can get Armani Reeves to switch to Michigan.

Supposedly we have stopped recruiting Yuri Wright.

I want Wright and Reeves regardless of the rumors, performances, which one has higher potential etc. doesn't matter. I want both, please.

I have gave up all hope for Wright being a Wolverine... I think it's all Reeves with a small possibility of Crawley.... IMO.

If he is still visiting, why have you gave up on all hope for Wright being a Wolverine?

Looks like Reeves will actually visit UM this weekend. As a PSU fan, I still don't expect to get either him or Williams, but pushing their visits back gives me a little hope. I always prefer that PSU gets the last visit, and if they're reworking their schedule to meet O'Brien more, it indicates they have an open mind.

The thing I didn't like in Sean's article (at least the version on our site, not sure what yours says), is that they said something about how they'll "work out a visit in the next few days or so."

I don't like nebulous comments like that. I prefer to have specific dates set (even though those can go bad).

Haha, I was on the other side of the fence - didn't think he'd cancel the visit to UM at all. I guess that's why both of us can see it as a positive for our side. His visit to PSU (if it happens) will come at a better time for us, while you guys get a sure visit.

I definitely can see both Reeves and Williams sticking with their PSU commitments, depending on how their visit to State College goes, but I think it's very unlikely Reeves ends up at OSU. Ohio doesn't really need another CB (they are already tight on scholarships and desperately need at least two more OL in this class). I think Urbie's sudden interest in Reeves is a ploy to get the pair to visit Columbus so he can put the full court press on Williams. I can actually see a scenario in which Williams commits to OSU on his visit and cancels his visit to PSU altogether. If that happens, I think Reeves ends up a Wolverine.

Where does Williams compare against our LB haul this year?

IMO Bolden, Ross and RJS all are as good or better. Ringer is hard to project. Some think he is fairly ranked as a three star (slightly lower than Williams) but others think he is a sleeper. And, honestly, I haven't really watched any tape on Williams or followed him to know much at all about him. He is listed as an inch or two taller than Ringer, so that alone could explain why he is ranked higher.

I've seen tape on our guys and they are all very good. Moreover, Scout and Rivals have Bolden, Ross and RJS ranked higher. Bolden was a standout at the recent Army AA game (and at practices) and might even see a further bump up in his ranking soon. Ross and RJS also played in the game. Also, Williams played in the Semper Fidelis game, which is the newest and least prestigious of the three such games, and that fact also is another data point.

I was clear when giving my opinion that it was based on not having seen tape on Williams. You can ignore it if you wish. But it is very consistent with the opinions/rankings given by all of the professional recruiting services, which presumably have reviewed Williams' tape and even seen him in person. FWIW, even OSU was not recruiting Williams heavily until very recently, so apparently most of your own coaching staff (Luke Fickell, former HC (now co-DC), and Mike Vrabel, former LB coach (now DL coach), did not think highly enough of him to make him a priority earlier.

The B10 is not the SEC. We limit the number of LOI's a team can sign to three more than the total number of schollies that team has room for under NCAA rules. And every team has to submit paperwork to the B10 offices to explain any discrepancies. So, Urbie can't have room for 19 on NSD and sign 25 with the plan to run off the extras between NSD and August. The B10 will not allow it. You can deny RS juniors a fifth year, but other than that you are stuck with the numbers you have on NSD. With the three player cushion the B10 permits, maybe you can get above 22 in this class, but it's going to be very difficult unless you are releasing most/all of your fifth year seniors. Good luck.
