Urban Meyer a done deal to OSU?

  • I'm not intimidated by Meyer AT ALL.

    Who says he won't re-retire again in a couple years due to his health?

    I really don't mean to pick a fight and I'm pretty new here, but can we not call them O$U? It's not much better than them calling us scUM. In general, I think twisting the names of opposing teams, players, and coaches into some unclever form that insults them reflects far worse on us than it does on them. If we don't want to call them OSU, I think TSIO (That School in Ohio) and simply Ohio as Hoke calls them would be better options. Not sinking to MSU/OSU board level insults.

    Welcome! Bring it and do whatever you feel is best.

    Not mocking you. There were just so many crazy RUMORS when he retired that at least 1 of them had to be true. Too much smoke for no fire.

    I agree with you on this, I used to refer to UM as scUM but I felt cheap every time I did it. So now (unless I am drunk feeling dirty anyway) I refer to your school as UM, Mich(can't bring myself to say the whole word), tsun, and if talking to you guys I might say "wad up blue? I know I am a minority in this but that's just how I see it. I can't stand your school but BUT I respect it and your team has earned more tradition and respect than scUM. IMHO.

    Meyer will put a fence around ohio, and pull in 5 star nationally. Ill agree Hoke is a "good" recruiter, but Meyer is a Great recruiter. In a year OSU has been down with a unknown future, hes only got 3 players from ohio that had OSU offers. Kalis was recruited hard by Strobel too. Meyer will be a magnet for talent around the midwest. I look forward to the Hoke vs Meyer battles.

    They'll be fine with any coach they get. It's not like he's going to come in and start filling his classes with 20 Florida kids every year.

    I still call BS until they know their punishment.

  • Look, OSU is going to have a good coach, a good staff, and good players no matter what. When haven't they had those things? Hell, Cooper was considered a really good coach when he was hired?

    It doesn't matter. None of it matters. We are Michigan. We should beat them no matter what.

    Urban would be a great coach for them, and I will enjoy watching the spread of Urban vs. the power of Hoke for the next decade, if it comes to that.

    All that said...I still am dubious of Urban actually taking that job.

    The reason most of us don't believe it is because talk like this always happens with coaching vacancies(see Harbaugh to UM). Urban could be great at OSU but there are still a lot of questions regarding it all.

    Urban would be formidable at OSU, no doubt.

    But I don't even see smoke yet. I see blogs with rumors. That ain't smoke. You get Urban buying a house in Columbus, or even looking; you get him visiting Gee or vice versa...you get some info like that, THAT is smoke.

    I think there is a fair chance by early next year he will be the coach. But that is different than believing that anything we are hearing today has any validity other than a guess.

    Why do we have to be scared to be honest? I would prefer it not to happen. But at this point I'll take the tag team of Hoke and Mattison over any coach in the country. Heck Meyer's national title team was heavily recruited by Mattison himself. I hope Meyer holds true to his words and spends time with his family, otherwise the guy will continue to prove he's a massive douche.

    I find it hard to believe that Urban would have the type of stranglehold on Ohio as you assume. I'm pretty sure (due to his health or the 'feel' that he wont be around for long) kids are gonna be hesitant in signing on to become Buckeyes. Just an opinion though.
