Urban Meyer a done deal to OSU?

  • a lot of rumors out there that they have agreed, in principle, for Urban to be the next coach at the Cesspool down south.

Desmond needs to go on Gameday and a la Herbstreit, announce that Urban is going there

  • If he accepted this job before the NCAA hands down punishment to O$U, he'd be an idiot. Just remember, Harbaugh and Miles were both "done deals" to UM 10 months ago as well.

  • Yeah he's a done deal if Belichick is his OC and Tony Dungy is DC lol I'm very seasoned by now when it comes to coaching rumors.

Fickell must be loving life hearing all these rumors that he is already done even though they have 2 regular season games left and a bowl game. Must do wonders for his motivation and the team's to have all this speculation.

  • Bring it on! He will just have to quit after "heart" issues once Michigan beats the tar out of the Buckeyes.

Yes by "heart" I mean salacious completely unproven rumors of cheerleader trysts.

  • So what if its true? Good. I think it will be a good thing for the conference and therefore for Michigan to have a big name coach come in and "rescue" tSIO. Plus, at this point, if you were given a choice of having Hoke or Meyer as Michigan's head football coach next year, who would you choose?

The answer is easy for me - Brady Hoke. No question. I can't say enough good things about Hoke. His recruiting, his coaching, his respect for the school and its tradition, his humility, they way he treats the players and on and on....

Lol, I'd love to see a poll on this. Does 247 do polls? I'd love to see who Michigan fans would like better as their head coach, Hoke, Meyer or anyone else for that matter? Before Hoke came in last January in I would've easily said Meyer or Harbaugh or Miles over Hoke. I'm so happy I was wrong. Brady Hoke seems to be tailor-made for this job and I don't give a fuck who Ohio chooses for its next coach.

  • I really don't mean to pick a fight and I'm pretty new here, but can we not call them O$U? It's not much better than them calling us scUM. In general, I think twisting the names of opposing teams, players, and coaches into some unclever form that insults them reflects far worse on us than it does on them. If we don't want to call them OSU, I think TSIO (That School in Ohio) and simply Ohio as Hoke calls them would be better options. Not sinking to MSU/OSU board level insults.

I agree, and you're welcome here. I've gone back and forth about actually editing posts that use things like that, but I think we'll just stick with hoping that people don't do it too much.

For the record I don't trust Mike Holmgren, and Phil Dawson is the only true superstar the Browns have had since 1999. It's truly a dismal existence to be a Browns fan.

    headslap you cant be serious??

Urban Meyer: 104-23 (.819) 7-1 in bowls (2 National Championships).

    vs.

Brady Hoke: 55-52 1-1 in bowls.

You can bet that Hoke's recruiting in Ohio will disappear once Urban comes to OSU. The wall around Ohio will be 500 feet higher!

Sorry to troll, but this post is lol

  • I'm skeptical of it. His father just died a week ago, I just don't see him as the type of guy who would turn around after such an event and make such a huge decision like agreeing to coach at Ohio State.

However, I'm not going to deny for a second that there's such a long long long list of coaches I would rather see end up at OSU than Urban Meyer.... they guy wins and he can recruit extremely well too. Him going there just makes things that much more difficult for Michigan.

See until he signs a contract or is on a podium delivering a press conference as coach I am skeptical of it happening for a number of reasons.

That being said it is good for the B1G and OSU. Sure it makes them better, but I want to beat OSU at their best. Granted if we win this year I would take it as it breaks the streak, but I feel like the best rivalry games are when both teams are at the top of their game (ala the #1 v #2 game a couple of years ago).

I find it hard to believe that Urban would have the type of stranglehold on Ohio as you assume. I'm pretty sure (due to his health or the 'feel' that he wont be around for long) kids are gonna be hesitant in signing on to become Buckeyes. Just an opinion though.
