UM not slowing down in race for RB

Richmond (VA) Hermitage running back Derrick Green has recently named a favorite. Green talks with Wolverine247 about some of the other schools that are still in the mix.

  • I think this kid may be a casualty of all these B1G schools getting commits so early. When he gets around to taking those other visits, OSU(who may have already), Michigan may already be filled up

  • ...that said would love to see him Go Blue

  • To me it sounds like OSU would still take him...but yeah, their spots are getting thin.

  • Clint,

What do you really think our chances are? I think he's definitely going to OSU.

I think that the Wolverines are up there for Green but the chances of him actually signing at Michigan are slim IMO. Right now Clemson is the best bet but he doesn't plan on making a decision for a long time so a lot can change. I feel like his decision will ultimately come down to the school that will give him the best opportunity to get on the field as true freshman.

  • I agree with Clint. I think Green is Clemson bound.

  • OSU is running out of scholarships really quickly. I don't understand why they let Lewis Neal commit today - he seems like a second-tier player at a position that OSU has recruited really well over the last couple years. Now, if OSU takes Green as an additional RB in this class, they've barely got any spots left for the OL. (Which I'm not complaining about, mind you - I don't mind their complete lack of depth.)

Agree with you. Green would be great, but OSU already has plenty of RB. Also don't get the Neal commitment, but I don't get paid to evaluate and recruit so I hope the staff is right. We need some OL and WR the way it looks. A safety would be nice also. If everyone agrees we will trade you Neal for one of your OT prospects.

  • It has been rumored (not fact) that OSU is starting to cool on him. He grew up a buckeyes fan and favored OSU up until they got a commitment from Elliott. In my opinion he won't be going to OSU. Really a weird recruitment as he steered current sophmore and former teammate Curtis Grant to OSU at the end of the last recruiting season.

    Wrong.
OSU can still go after him. On NSD, OSU can do some "roster management" and perhaps drop one of their lesser commits.

That's how Alabama signed their last #1 class. On NSD Feb1 they flipped 4-star DE Kirven from Virginia Tech, and then at the last minute dropped their 3-star DE Darius Philon (who subsequently signed with Arkansas).

  • Green has stated that he wants to play in a pro style offense, which is why Ohio has probably cooled with him
