Ty Isaac - Post USC Visit

  • I know USC is getting the headlines now, but I'd be more concerned about the domers. They are starting to put together a very nice class and that Oline Haul and Gunner aren't too far behind our better Oline haul and Sugar Shane. Not to mention they're more local than we are.

However, my gut tells me that the Spring game will be special. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Quon and Ty both commit there or around that weekend. Here's hoping!

I'd love for Ty, and Quon to commit, but Quon is going to take his time.

Im starting to get the feeling that ty aint coming. With his visits lately, the coaches offering other rb or about to offer other rb. I think hoke & co know also, but like earlier stated im happy with Smith and im sure we will be in the hunt for a stud 2014 kid also

I am getting the same feeling about Ty.

Why? Because he did not immediately commit to UM after visiting USC? I think it was very unlikely that the USC visit would not at least have a temporary impact on things. If UM gets him back on campus soon, I will feel very good about UM's chances.

Just a feeling. Not panicking or anything. I am very happy with Deveon Smith at RB for us. Would love to land Ty as well but at this time I just don't think he will commit to Michigan.

Same here. The way I see it:

    - He doesn't seem to like the recruiting process right now, which is good for an early decision, which is good for us.
    - He doesn't like airports (who does?), and with O'Hare and LAX being two of the busiest in the country, the idea of regularly going between those for 4 years at USC cannot help their chances.
    - He hasn't come out and said anyone is his leader, so doesn't mean Michigan has lost ground.
    - Domer fans who typically think they lead for everyone are not saying that in this case, so if they don't think they lead, they really must not lead lol. Some even trying to say they have 4 other RBs higher on their board, ha.

The kid is a top-5 RB in the country and there are 10 months before signing day, so I am very happy with where we sit right now in this recruitment.

I hope your right. The only thing i dont get if he hates airports, and his dad doesnt like the distance then why are they going again with his mom. Its not hard for one to look at a map see how far sc is and that you more than likely have to fly all the time back and forth. If it was such a big deal i just dont see why there going again

Great excuse to see LA, plus mom's opinion matters.

  • The 247 USC guys haven't been able to get ahold of him. I wonder if there is any significance to that.

Probably not, he is shutting down recruiting for most of this month. Now if that isn't he case and he just wants to make a decision I would be fine with that because he would most likely pick us.

Think he'll decide this summer, doesn't seem that close to deciding.

I thought he was then he took his visit to USC. If I had to guess I would believe that he would decide sometime in the May range. If he visits for the spring game though, that is a different story.

  • Doubt he does unfortunately, seems pretty tired of the recruiting so he'll probably just relax until summer and then he might take additional visists.

We've told Ryan Green he's our top target. I don't think we lead. JSapp seems to have a good relationship with Issac as Issac called him from the airport on his way home. We have three RB's that I'd be happy to get Issac, Green, and Bryant. Don't care how it shakes out as long as we get one. I prefer Green because I think he's a better fit for our O and he's a home run threat from anywhere on the field with his speed. Kid has elite speed and vision.

  • Isaac: Extremely high ceiling(Heisman candidate), low floor(complete bust)
    Smith: Middle ceiling, slightly-under-average floor

At least the way I see it. But hey, the anticipation is that anybody would look good behind Magnuson-Kalis-Kugler-Bosch-Fox.

I don't agree with you that Isaac's low floor is complete bust because he has the height to be able to play WR and he would be an insanely good WR.

The only reason I think Isaac's floor is a complete bust is, knock on wood, injuries. His junior year in HS is the first time he put up big numbers, and IIRC he struggled with injuries before that. Plus it's not uncommon for taller RBs to struggle with injuries to varying degrees. Other than that, I agree.

  • One other thing I think could potentially help us with Isaac is that his coach is at the Michigan coaches clinic and might be one of the coaches giving a presentation today. Coaches usually are part of the recruiting discussion and help cut through the BS that college coaches tell kids, so can't hurt if he's spending some time watching our coaches at practice and getting acquainted with them outside of just the recruiting pitch.
