Treadwell's Recruitment Still Fluid

Crete (Ill.) Monee Top100 WR Laquon Treadwell says he's still talking to roughly 10 schools, with four emerging as programs he'd have a tough time saying no to.

We are probably slightly leading for him right now but I'm not getting my hopes.

I think the lead is more than slight. Just IMO.

I thought we were way out front a little bit ago, but I feel that it has gone down a little. I know its still very early but the longer it becomes and the more I learn, the more I feel our lead decreases.

My reading of things is the opposite- Michigan is just getting stronger and stronger. He's already visited the school like 5 times and keeps going back. Actions speak louder than words.

Yeah I think he'll take at least a few more months before deciding.

I guess its more about how I was sure that michigan was the leader for both garnett and Isaac and we didn't get them. I am starting to not get caught up as much in being peoples "leader".

Michigan was the leader for Isaac. We were never in the lead for Garnett.

    In retrospect, this is true.

But Garnett had no problem letting reporters/analysts think that Michigan was in the lead.

Yeah, hindsight is 20/20. I think we need to be careful to keep expectations for Quon realistic. I think we lead...but in May before NSD, that doesnt mean all that much.

Yeah. I would feel much better if he would just commit already.

  • Michigan got a lucky break with the bad weather in OK. Probably would be much closer if he had mae his planned visit. The do have the advantage of throwing the ball more.

It will be interesting to see if the OK schools can get back into it..

Honestly he is Michigans to lose, I don't think one visit is going to change much.

I am cautiously optimistic with Treadwell. However, the Ty situaiton was also labeld as a non-event after one visit.

Kind of what I said... The Oklahoma schools have no chance, but if he visits, they might have a small chance. Occasionally, receivers like to go to a school that actually throws the ball. I doubt he would change his mind, but it might give him something to think about.

    2011 Passing Offense

Keep in mind our current qb is the most dynamic runner at his position. By the time Treadwell gets here we will be much more of a pro style offense, with more traditional pocket passers playing qb.

Good point here. Schools recruiting against Michigan will undoubtedly point out the current numbers to Treadwell, but it's up to the Wolverine coaches to sell him on what the offense will look like post-Denard.

    Answer: Shane Morris. goblue

That is why Morris may be the most important 2013 recruit around. Without him, it is virtually impossible to make this argument.

Agreed. 247 just came out with a rankings update to boost some new five stars (Shane Morris is the first four star again), but JC Shurbutt commented that he thinks Shane Morris is the most important recruit to his school in the whole class.

Exactly. There's always at least two sides to everything in recruiting, and it's up to the Michigan coaches to sell theirs the best. The results show that they've done an outstanding job thus far.

Can't really argue with that. From a talent standpoint alone, Shane was a huge get for Michigan. And when you add in his value in terms of helping to recruit the rest of the class, and the chemistry those guys will already have before they even step foot on campus a year from now, it's hard to imagine another recruit being more valuable.
