Treadwell visiting USC?

    I answered back to that statement earlier, Wormley wasn't all over the place with his interests and the only other school he visited was OSU, once.

    Chris Wormley also started taking visits much later and only took visits to Michigan and one to OSU. He wasn't all over the place in terms of interest.

    Those were the only schools he cared for. He had offers from Bama and LSU but didn't report them because he wasn't interested.

    And yet he dragged it out, so your point doesn't add up. Treadwell wants to visit oky and oky state, until that happens no kidding he isn't making a decision. Why everyone has gone whiny girl here is annoying.

    I was saying that example of Chris Wormley doesn't hold much ground because he only visited Michigan and didn't want to visit other schools. Treadwell has visited Michigan, and a slew of other schools. Also the circumstances are completely different this year, Wormley committed with about 10 spots left in the class, Treadwell is still going through the process with about 2 spots left.

    If we are going to limit our recruiting to players who only have a serious interest in one or two other schools and are going to announce no later than June, we are going to take ourselves out of the running for nearly all of the top prospects in the country each year. Laquon Treadwell has visited Michigan several times. He has also visited ND and OSU. And he wants to visit several more. He is one of the best WRs in the country and would be a perfect addition to the offense Hoke and Borges are building in Ann Arbor. Instead of being happy that we have a very good shot at landing him, people are freaking out because it's "already June" and he hasn't pulled the trigger. If we are going to go after elite prospects like Treadwell, we better expect more competition for those athletes than just one or two schools in the Midwest and we better be prepared to recruit them past June. And we are not going to win them all, so we better be prepared for that, too.

    Treadwell isn't all over the place with his interests either.

    He has maintained for a while that he was interested in Michigan, Oklahoma, Okie State and a couple others. The three mentioned are always the 3 that he has consistently mentioned. He has mentioned other schools such as USC somewhat consistently (though not to the level of the other 3) as well.

    Agreed, but just think how bad it is going to be in 9 days and people start to panic because it is JULY and Quon hasn't committed yet. Sh!t is going to get crazy.

    The issue isn't treadwell, its fans like you and others who are too close and can't just take things in stride. The average team probably has 10 commits right now; be confident in the success we have had so far not whining like we are in a bad predicament.

    not that i was worried about usc getting him, but lets stop talking about it. hes not going to usc. he doesn't need to commit right now. he has till February. give the guy time. alot of us will be taking our time to. hes the only must get guy right now and the coaches shouldn't put pressure on him. if we get treadwell i can honestly say that i dont care who we get with the other 1 or 2 spots. treadwell makes this class complete. hes the big time receiver that hokes been trying to get for two years and thats all we need right now.if we get treadwell than i can care less if we dont get fuller mathis bailey or mcquay. we got good db's and d lineman the last two years so missing on these guys is not a big deal. all we really need is that big time wr.

    I say give fuller, mathis, bailey and mcquay, along with Quon greyshirts....just imagine how awesome the '14 class would be....Damon Webb, and MM get a full ride asap, they deserve it more then the others rumor

    i would certainly hope not, really want treads in the class but if we have other talented player that wana commit, like bailey or harris we should absolutely take them

  • I think Treadwell has been quite honest, frankly.

    But with this class, if he doesn't commit soon, it may time to move on to another that is willing to commit. That is life.

  • I personally believe the coaches have worked something out with Treadwell where a spot is reserved no matter the duration of his recruitment. He claimed that to be the case merely a month or two back, and there is no reason for that to have changed. I also firmly believe that the coaches know exactly where he is with his decision and how much interest he has in our program. Treadwell has always been our number 1 WR target for this class, that doesn't change overnight. And before any of you fire back with the Mattison quote, I think that has been overblown. I feel he is taking into account spots reserved for a kid or two later in the process, rather than every spot being filled first come first serve. In other words, if you are not one of the top recruits on the board but have an offer, get your spot before the offer is no longer committable. Because once we're down to a few remaining spots (now), there will only be a select few who have the opportunity to fill them.

    As for the Oklahoma schools, they are/rightfully should be far more worried about us than we are of them. Think of them as an insect/small animal and us as humans. While we get bothered/annoyed/sometimes frightened by the creatures, they are always far more scared of us than we are of them.

    Yeah, because whining over a kid "dragging" his recruitment until July, yes July, is much less annoying. Wormley didn't drag out anything, he was always Blue.
