I saw that too. There is a ton of mishaps this year with offers...

Sam Webb addressed this on twitter. It can actually be the reporter receiving false information from the recruits in some instances.

Doubt he actually goes to USC because they were supposed to only take two, but have extended it to 3 for a couple kids who want to commit. I wouldn't really worry about this like we did with Ty Isaac. With USC filling up, don't be surprised if Michigan becomes the leader for Paul Harris.

My feelings with Treadwell have been mixed. I originally felt Michigan was the leader, but with so many schools still in the mix, I suspect Michigan is 'one of the schools' in the mix now. Meaning, percentages of landing him have not dropped, but timing of the commit has definetly changed. He may not know where he wants to go. Personally, only the coaches can assess their confidence (or probability) of a commit from him. If Bailey and Harris want the spots, I would be hard-pressed to say no ... unless you have the confidence you are a clear leader (for Treadwell) when fall rolls around. The other factor is 'who' is a high potential for 2014, 'how' many, and 'what' caliber. If Michigan believes 2014 can yield the WRs they need to complete, then roll the scholly over to '14 and move on. IMO set the trend that the bus takes commits first-come, first-serve, unless a clear and understandable reason exists as to why a spot should be saved.

I think Larue is a lock for USC. Did'nt he recently say he would announce soon?

I would take Larue in that case, but Harris is well-worth the wait as well. Curious on what Treadwell is making of all this WR noise .... maybe OK or OK State have more influence than originally thought .... blank

I think Harris ends up at Tennessee and Treadwell is trending down. Larue sounds like USC for sure. I hope Bailey has a good visit. If our offensive line recruits pan out our QB might have time to throw to me. I am confused at the lack of recognition or persuasion that is getting from skill position players. Bottom line we have some blue chip offensive lineman on board with many elite offers.

I wouldn't put it past Kiffin to take an extra receiver just to stick it to Hoke. (LaRue AND Treadwell) He comes off as that type of guy.

Treadwell does have family in Oklahoma.

Anybody know our standing with Darren Carrington? I like that kid's film a lot.

i doubt it. maybe if he had 25 schollies to give out, but its a small usc class with many 4/5 star guys still high on usc and usc will fill the wr need with larure, massington and mitchell

    1. Harris at TN is a good possibility.

    2. Treadwell confuses me. I do not believe he is sold 100% on Michigan. OK and OK State are still drawing him. USC may be a play, but I see UM, OK, OK State as his three right now.

    3. Larue at USC is a lock IMO. What I find more interesting is Vanderdoes stating USC has "definitely jumped up drastically." This is another DT ready to commit to a class already small. This squeezes another scholly away from USC towards a WR.

    4. I suspect skilled position players are trying to understand how the full pro-style offense will look in 2 years. This may be causing some to take their time, and understand how the UM offense will transfer to the pro offense.

I think your 4th point is the most important. I think it'll take a little while before we routinely get the absolutely elite skill players, because we won't see the true extent of Borges' pro-style until 2013. However, I think that'll help our 2014 recruiting a lot. I don't think the commits will come as fast in 2014, and so I'm reasonably sure we'll see a bunch of players visiting during the year and coming away impressed with Borges' pro-style offense.

I think the commits will come fast in 2014, but on the defensive side of the ball. As it is stacking up right now, Michigan "could" have the top defensive set of recruits for 2014. The talent that has Michigan in their top-tier is staggering to me.

On the offensive side, your scenario will play out through the 2014 recruiting cycle IMO. This is based on the reasons we have stated. I do not doubt attracting the talent, but deeper conversations with the recruits will be required to explain their potential impact with the future pro-style schema awaiting Michigan in 2 years.

  • LaRue might have grade issues, which might be the reason why USC is turning up the heat on Treadwell.

  • I tried on four shirts before going to work this morning and we want to throw shade on Treadwell because he wants to visits schools prior to committing? Too much paranoia, folks just need to see what happens. Its not a game breaker if Treadwell picks us or another school, though I believe Treadwell will pick us.
