Michigan breeds elite NFL level talent. This is just a fact of life. What other college can boast having, in one season, the NFL's best defender (Woodson) and best offensive player as well (Brady). Hell, Desmond Howard was a flameout and he still won a SuperBowl MVP, coincidence that both those players (not Howard) emerged from the Lloyd years where - surprise - both Mattison and Hoke were on the staff charged primarily with teaching the fundamentals of position play? I really feel a real Lombardi vibe with this staff, fundamentally strong players like Mike Martin, Van Bergen and particularly Jordan Kovaks absolutely exploded last year and under RRod I can't remember how many missed tackles a play we'd see. It behooves intelligent players to realize which coaches can teach them the game to the extent that it maximizes their NFL potential. My father, an alum, always grumbles that we never will really get back on top because recruits want to play where it's warm (SEC.) I disagree with him often, I think kids now are often weighing heavily the ability of the program to give them a future in the NFL more than beaches and blondes. Sorry, that was kind of a tangent, but I'm just so thrilled with what's happened to our program and the quality of the kids we are attracting has me doubly excited.

PS: As a Redskins fan, everything about Desmond Howard tears me to bits. First comes UM with me (my earliest memories are watching games with my Pops and I even remember going out in the backyard right after "The Catch" and trying to recreate it... by myself [my dad thought I was nuts]), so when the Redskins picked him and he was going to be our savior... what the hell. That's all I can say. Has anyone had a more backwards career than Desmond? Heisman Trophy - gets killed by Steve Ettman and UW. Absolute bust in the pros except for one game - Super Bowl MVP. *shakes head*
