I've read this explanation from other Spartan posters as well and it makes no sense at all. If he has such a talented future at DE/DT he would be playing there right now learning the position and perfecting his craft. Why would the coaches consciously stunt his growth at a position he will be counted on to make a major contribution next season (assuming Gholston goes pro). The answer is they wouldn't. He's a FB.

I don't have an in-depth knowledge of how football coaching works, but I doubt that it takes THAT much specialized focus, particularly in practice, to play fullback. Block some guys 14-20 times a game and maybe catch a pass. Again, I know nothing about advanced football, but I bet that he's still getting coached to play DT/DE but he's just playing FB in games. From what I understand, the talented DE/LB killing time at FB thing is semi common, anyway.
