Three football players not returning

Not flamin, but why is it if a Saban or Meyer "need" players to leave to make room for their newly signed players y'all call them slimy or sleeze etc...?

I have no issue with it, whether Hoke does it or anyone else. This is a business, gotta put the best on the field that you can.

I think we feel this way because the university is making a commitment to the athlete just as much as the athlete is making a commitment to the university. Both parties should intend to honor the 4 year scholarship that is given out, and it seems a bit unethical if a coach takes it away because a better option comes along. You can say it's like a business, but it's not for the players; at least, it's not supposed to be. Many of them wouldn't be able to afford college without a scholarship, so taking it away from them is rather unfair.

Let me clarify what i meant. When i say need one more guy to leave i am not saying Hoke is pushing someone out. I fully believe that Hoke knew about a player that will be gone before he accepted the committment/signed letter of intent from all the recruits he got. So when i say need someone to leave i mean that in only that we need it to get to the 85 number.

I think it's slimy to push players out. I would hope Hoke would never push out a kid he offered a scholarship to that still wants to be at Michigan.

If players arent gonna fit, arent giving 100% then you may sit em down and tell them its best to look around. All coaches do it... thats what its become. If he has a guy he knows wont play for him..maybe suggest he looks around.

shrug I have no problem with being honest with a kid about his chance at playing. It's still the kids choice whether or not he leaves the program though. If the kid still wants to stay it would be slimy to push him to leave.

It is .. and you cant make a kid leave technically. However those talks have a way of being persuasive. Were they even his recruits?

2 of them were walkons so they didn't even have scholarships. Wilkins i think was technically in Hoke's first class but I honestly don't know if he was recruited by Hoke or Rich Rod.

Just my opinion but the persuasive talks are slimy. The Coach should just be honest with the kid and let them make their decision to stay or go.

I agree... i just think they sometimes put sugar on their honesty. It sucks but its the nature of CFB nowadays. Its all cliche but if a guy isnt gonna help you... then you need spots for kids that will.

16 of the 27 commits from that class are now gone, with possibly 17 depending on what happens with Hagerup. Only 4 out of 27 have played significant minutes (Devin Gardner, Jibreel Black, Jake Ryan, and Jeremy Jackson)

Yes, in a staff member's thread. What would bucknuts do if the situation were reversed? Oh that's right, your board is closed. Kick rocks.

  • Honestly why is a football scholarship any different than a academic scholarship?

If you are on academic scholarship and you don't preform academically it gets removed. If you are on football scholarship why should it be any different?

    I bet Hagerup gets booted.

I think Hagerup is going...just a matter of time.
