Thomas Staying Strong

What Urban has done isn't so amazing. Cam Williams, Tommy Schutt, and Noah Spence were all PSU commits/heavy leans until the dumpster fire took place, Urban was just in the right place at the right time. Urban hired Taylor Decker's lead recruiter away from ND. Lastly Cam Burrows was a heavy Buckeye lean.

It's impossible to reason with you guys because you insist on burying your heads in the sand...you could say the same thing about Hoke with he recruits you've gotten that were on OSUs radar till Tress took off

I'm sorry, did Tressel take off? I'm pretty sure there was more to it then that.

Ok got fired forced resignation or whatever you wanna call it, but doesn't negate the fact that Hoke took advantage of the situation just like Meyer is doing right now with Penn State

Ditto for you guys. Not matter what is said by the recruits, coaches, and family members you bury your head in the sand and say "lalalalalalalalalalalalala no he will will flip, lalalalalalalaalala". Your fanbase is still doing the something with Kalis. Get over it.

Only the ignorant Buckeye fans think we are still pursuing Kalis...that ship long sailed...but to say that Dymonte Thomas is a 100% lock is foolish...I would call him a HEAVY UM lean but a reasonable UM fan would say there is a lot of time left in this game...

He's committed that's past lean status. A lean is someone who is favoring a school. Thomas is more than a lean.

I'll give you that...makes more sense...but it is far from over, this much is certain

Oh trust me if I were in your shoes I'd be comfortable too...I just think that with his cousin Dunn enrolled at OSU and how much time there is between now and next NLOI day, if anyone can flip him it's Meyer!

We've heard this story before regarding Dymonte. We all know Dunn is at OSU and that Meyer is a great recruiter. Basically at this point Dymonte has said he is all blue and we don't care about that other stuff until something comes from Dymonte that would make us worry. Until then this whole Dymonte will flip because blah blah blah is just something we don't care about.

This is my point. Dymonte has shown NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER. Ever. Now, if he does, then it is a different story. Right now, all the pining away like a forlorn lover is from Columbus, Urban, and the Buckeye faithful...not the other way around. That may change, but that is the fact as of today.

For the sake of the rivalry I hope Dymonte stays with UM. If the walls go back up around Ohio (which I believe they will/ are) then we are in for another 9-1 decade of Buckeye dominance. I'd rather see the game mean something again rather then a UM beat down every year.

This is what i don't get. How can the walls go back up and Meyer get the best recruits nationally? There is too much talent coming out of Ohio to do both. Michigan will be fine. The problems Michigan had weren't because Tressel locked down Ohio. If we can land 4 or 5 4*+ kids a year from Michigan. Another 4 or 5 nationally. and then a couple from Ohio those will be very good recruiting classes.

UM needs 6-8 from Ohio to be good. Take a look at the past good UM classes. 30% from Ohio and these are kids OSU would have taken but choose to go to UM or had no room.

I basically agree with that. Michigan has less of a recruiting base than Ohio...I think any fair analysis states that.

When you look at the last half century, UM has always gotten that many players, except for the past few years. Even early in the Tressel years. With Hoke getting players this year as well, the last half century trend is more likely than the trend of the past 4-5 years.

We do not need 6-8 4* from Ohio to have good recruiting classes. Look at this year. From Michigan we have Ross, Jenkins Stone, Funchess, Richardson and Godin that are all 4 stars. From Ohio we have Wormley, Kalis, Bolden, Wilson and Strobel. Nationally we have Pipkins, Darboh and Magnuson. We are in on Diamond, Reeves and Garnett who are all not from Ohio nor Michigan. If we land 2 of those we likely finish with at least a top 5 class.

you just proved my point. You got Kalis, Wormley, Bolden, Wilson and Strobel from Ohio. Add Stacey, Ringer and Williams and you have 8 or 30% from Ohio. I would add that OSU would have taken 6 of these kids. No disrespect intented. My point is if you look back at the good UM teams the core is from Ohio.

This is like saying LSU is only good because their core is from Texas. So what? If you can't keep the kids in your backyard that isn't our issue. The state of Ohio is more deep talent wise in high school football then Michigan, that isn't really a big argument. Schools aren't limited to recruiting only their state, so I'm not sure what point your making about UM wouldn't be good without recruiting Ohio. Ohio wouldn't be good if they couldn't recruit outside of Ohio too.

When i said a couple from Ohio i was talking about the 4 and 5 star kids. We have 5 this year. There is way to much talent in Ohio to think that Ohio state will ever keep Michigan from getting kids like Stacey, Ringer and Williams from the state of Ohio.

Its deeper then LSU recruiting TX. Its the core recruiting philosophy for UM. UM must recruit Ohio in order to compete against OSU. Both staffs understand. If OSU keeps 90% of the 4's and 5's it will own the rivalry and the BIG. Its really not an argument. Both schools will continue to have success recruiting nationally but the team who wins in Ohio will win the rivarly. Take a look at the UM roster the last 3-4 years.

Michigan is never going to win the state of Ohio in recruiting. Michigan's recruiting philosophy is win the state of Michigan, then recruit the Midwest, and then nationally. You can even look to 2013 and I would argue the state of Illinois is going to be at the very least as important to Michigan as the state of Ohio.

I hope coach Hoke shares your recruiting philosophy! I agree you need to win your home state. Next for UM is Ohio then the midwest then nationally. UM doesnt need to win Ohio just pull their fair share of recruits. This would be the plan if the past is a good indicator of the future. Good luck.
