Honestly, why does he not get more carries? It makes no sense to me. Our O-line rush protection is miserable, he would cover up those flaws. I hate every time Vincent Smith touches the ball on O. And Fitz can't do shit without protection.

Yeah. it's almost a Denard-like-freshman-year situation. If Rawls comes on the field, you know he's running out of the I. If Denard came on the field, you knew he was running.

If anything rawls should help Fitz. Touissant needs to learn how to get north. Hopefully film is evaluated and he has earned some snaps, or at the least , some reps with first team in practice this week. But there is little doubt in my mind that We won't see him carry the football this weekend.

I think it's pretty easy - put Fitz in the shotgun and Rawls under center. If we want 2 yards on a 4th and 1, it should be Rawls under center IMO.

I agree that he just needs a shot. The Alabama game wasn't a fair test and he didn't get many touches regardless.

Count me on the "Rawls should start next week" bandwagon as well. Getting tired of seeing Fitz dance around back there and he's not strong enough to break tackles. However I LOVE how Rawls just beasts over guys.

I agree, and rawls can do enough other things to keep a d off balance, He can bounce it and catch passes. That mutlidimensional prowess may have him starting by the msu game.

I don't think Rawls will start next game or the MSU game but I think we will see his PT go up from here. Maybe a dual RB situation by the MSU game but he won't be the starter. You ever listen to the coaches talk about Fitz....they love him. They're not just going to throw him aside and let Rawls go as much as we all want it to happen.

agreed, Illinois will be an easy win anyway and Fitz is not getting it done. Why not get a look at Rawls and atleast give him the opportunity to prove himself.

Isn't Hopkins still out? I don't think we should underestimate the importance of that fact. He's grown into a pretty valuable aspect of our running game.

Pretty sure he is talking about his role as a FB in this offense. He is a solid FB from what I have seen, and him being out hurts.

I would like to see a 50/50 split during the Ill game. Let him run with and against 1st teamers and see how he does. Who ever is the main back needs to be the compliment to DRob and punish the line keeping them honest. I don't want to either of them dancing around, one cut and hit a gap.

What a way to end the game when your looking for some production out of a running back. I do think it's much harder for a back to have production out of the read then the I. Denard seems to only give the ball to the back when he doesn't see any openings for himself, which usually means there isn't much IMO. Having said that the ability to run through tackles, and be physical is a good trait in any formation, and IMO Rawls has shown he is more physical then Fitz.

The line is getting better, but that have major lapses in run blocking where they don't get much push. The pass blocking has been phenomenal.
