The freshmen are as good as advertised

Funchess will shatter the career TE receiving yards record. I think it's around 1,400 yards. He will probably double it if we use him properly. I was so frustrated when he was on the sideline for long stretches when it seemed AF couldn't cover him.

I was thinking the same thing. He should shatter a bunch of TE records.

It's not really disturbing if they are good. That's Sparty thinking that a freshmen can never be good.

It's not about thinking that a freshman can't be good. It's about thinking we could have 3 maybe 4 starting or getting a ton of time on D. That is a scary thought to me. Especially considering that 3 of them would be in the back 7 which was suppose to be he strength of our D this year.

What's so bad about them in the back 7? If they are bettter than the upperclassmen, then we shouldn't have an issue with them being freshmen.

Well for starters it means that the guys we thought were going to be good this year aren't performing up to expectations. Freshman will make mistakes. Having 3 or 4 playing together mean more mistakes. That is the scary part.

If they're better than the upperclassmen, that's as much of an indictment on the upperclassmen as it is an endorsement of the freshmen.

Who's to say that the upperclassmen wouldn't make more mistakes than the freshmen?

You are missing my point though. The back 7 was suppose to be very good this year. Meaning if the freshman end up starting then the upperclassmen are not living up to expectations. Meaning they were not suppose to make those mistakes. So therefore in my opinion our D won't be as good as I was expecting.

Or the back 7 is better than we expected. Maybe Ross and Bolden will burst on the scene like Jake Ryan did last year. They already did have one great game. Who's to say Richardson and Jarrod Wilson can't burst onto the scene like Blake Countess did last year?

From what i have seen so far the back 7 has not lived up to expectations. But hey more power to you if you want to believe that all the true freshman will be awesome from day 1.

What ever. Blake countess got injured which was a major blow back there and that means that we will start more freshmen more than them not living up to expectations.

It's more than Blake going down. Kovacs, Gordon, Demens and Morgan have not been as good as I expected them to be.

Kovacs has been good. The others I agree with however Ross and Bolden have played great when they're in.

eh I could see 1 or 2 of those guys bein studs right off the bat but the chances or 4 or more true frosh playin at that level all season are not so good. I definetly think all those guys as well as more members of the 2012 class are gona be great with time and experience but they'll need the time to learn. There will likely be some freshman mistakes made.

  • I think Bolden, Ross, Pipkins, Funchess, and Norfleet will be high production guys all year

Wow that is quite a class to put out so many performers in year 1.

I think 1 or 2 will be great and one of the best players on the team like Countess last year, but I think there could be 7/8 solid freshmen who aren't world beaters but are pretty good.

Those guys have played well so far and freshmen usually get better s the year goes on so I'd agree.

I agree with that, Hoke brought in an outstanding 2012 class and we do appear to have 6-8 guys that can be good contributors with 1 or 2 as very good starters.
