I imagine had ****igan miraculously won the game (it no longer deserves capitalization stepchildren) this post would not exist and in its place a bunch of gloating and chest puffery.
Anyhoo, I am very familiar with what "disassociation" means; however, that is not my point. My question to you is did Michigan disassociate itself willingly to uphold some higher standard, or was it simply a proactive move to mitigate inevitable NCAA penalties? You can minimize ****igan' infractions (in your mind) all you'd like, but Martin paid significant sums of money to the Fab Five, and later Robert "Tractor" Traylor, over multiple years and gave them fairly expensive vehicles. True, Fisher was never implicated in the pay-to-play, but he was the most clueless person in Ann Arbor if he did not know what was going.
I can be honest and admit Tressel cheated. As such, it is ridiculous for you to twist facts to make ****igan look cleaner (in your mind) than the Alabamas, Kentuckys, USCs, tOSUs, and other powerhouse programs in college sports.
BTW, so much for integrity: http://jalenrose.com/press/members-of-michigans-fab-five-honored-at-crisler-arena-november-21-2010
And so what it was 15 years after the violations. Pete Rose is still banned from baseball and it has been much longer. Just another irrelevant fact that you'll hold up to make ****igan appear holier than thou.

Too bad no one cares that Ohio finished 12-0. You guys should be happy that the toughest team you played was Michigan, because if you ran into an SEC team in a bowl game you would just embarrass yourselves again. At least this way you can keep lying to yourselves.

When you say SEC team you mean Alabama don't you. I watched the Bama - Michigan gamem and you guys had a healthy backfield then, you guys loked awesome against Bama, now that was embarrassment my friend. As far as nobody cares that THE OHIO STATE went 12-0 I think you may find a few people that were happy. Oh by the way, I just sent Hoke a check for $1000.00 to buy a headset for the games and a box of twinkies.

We get it. Tress lied to the NCAA. That is bad and he got what he deserved.
That said, he has done amazing philanthropic work in the community. He has been adored by almost all him players for the way he mentored them. He did great work encouraging athletes in the classroom. And he led the program into an unparalleled ten years. His ending was shameful, his body of work was praiseworthy.Just a little actual rationale for those of you who can't seem to see the forest through the trees.

Joe Paterno did good things for the community too. How'd that turn out?
Not saying what Tressel did was as bad as Paterno, but he still did them. It's only been a year and half or so and almost everyone at osu acts like it never happened. Why would you honor the guy that's responsible for you not playing for a national championship this year?

I saw we are projected to the Capital One bowl.
But not going to a bowl game and facing a team that is comparable to yours and actually PROVING something is very meaningless. What have you proved? You went undefeated against a very weak B1G, and that's it.

You compare him to Joe Paterno and then say you aren't comparing them. It's disingenuous. Clearly they are different situations as this is seen by most as a "victimless crime". Sure, you can say this team is the victim but all those that are on the team now that played for him have consistently backed him, so I'll let them decide on that part.
As far as the game, the honor was specifically for the 02 NC team. Not for Tress himself. The players of that team decided to hoist him up but the stadium was already giving a standing ovation. It was the ten year anniversary so it made sense time wise. It's not like they went out of their way to get him in here this year. But he deserves to be honored for that accomplishment just like all those players did.

I just told you why he is a hero to buckeye fans. Winning is certainly part of the equation. He made a victimless mistake and paid dearly for it. That doesn't mean that the rest of the great things he did on and off the field don't deserve praise. Comparing him to someone who had a part in the sexual assault of many young boys is, at best, disingenuous.

I never realized that the capital one or outback are second tier bowl games? Besides the bcs bowls, the capital one is the best bowl game out there and outback the 3rd best imo. Second tier is more like the motor city bowl I would think. Just like the MAC is a second tier conference to the Big Ten. Enjoy your 12-0 record but realize it doesn't hold much weight considering Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Texas a&m, Florida, and South Carolina would beat you silly. Before your BP raises I think we would loose as well. I will enjoy the practices we get from the bowl, the help with recruiting, and being able to watch my team in another game. Enjoy your 12-0 season that should have ended as soon as Cal if the refs didnt make the holding call on the cal TE which brought back a touchdown, and was your biggest non conference game FYI they are 3-9. If you guys are not 11-0 coming into the game next year Urb should be on the hot seat, what a joke of a schedule.

I find it hilarious all these suckeyes are coming in here thumping their chests thinking they're world beaters. Their OOC schedule is pathetic with Miami OH, Cal, UCF and UAB! There is absolutely ZERO competition there, on top of getting us and Neb at home. On top of this, they squeaked by Cal, Purdue AND Indiana yet think they are some juggernaught? Give me a frickin break! ND or any of the SEC giants would stomp a mudhole in that arse just like Bama did to us. If they can't admit that than they're just lying to themselves. Be very happy you dont have to play another one if you like flaunting the weakest undefeated season I can ever remember

Admittedly, our schedule was soft this year; however, I'd take a soft 12-0 than 8-4 with a couple of ugly losses (14-41 vs. Alabama, no touchdown vs. ND) sprinkled in. Say what you like but we beat Nebraska and we beat you, so if we're soft what does that say about you?

A striking difference became apparent on Saturday between the two programs. It involved the glorification of a coach who swept NCAA rules under the rug, and who represents everything that collegiate athletics should not be. The Ohio faithful fawned over a man who attempted to manipulate a system by trying cover up any improprieties within a program he oversaw. A man who clearly conflated the line of what is right and wrong, while mentoring 18-23 year olds while in the process This was absolutely sickening to watch. What an excellent example to follow and be associated with......someone who embodies the hypocrisy of integrity.

Ha, I will, thanks for the advice. My advice to you is, I don't know, well there isn't much you can actually do. Maybe take some logic classes?
