I'm probably in the minority, but I wish them well. I think Kelly is doing a great job with their program.
He's starting by getting a solid defense going, and is opening up their offense more and more as he gets his system in place.
It reminds me of what Hoke is doing, except Kelly had more depth and talent up and down the roster than what Hoke started with.
And I don't think ND is a favorite against Oklahoma or USC, but I don't see any reason they can't win those games.

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind seeing ND win out? If Michigan's only 2 losses of the year were to undefeated NC contenders it would be a solid year winning the B1G and the Rose Bowl.
Then ND will come into next year w/ an inflated ranking, and Michigan can get their 1st signature win early.

I dont, because I think there are much larger ramification with recruiting that will hurt Michigan. Recruits buying into the momentum and hype, everyone knows that if Michigan had probably 2, and maybe 1 less turnover we win that game. I saw 2 interceptions ND made today, and it was nothing special that their defense did. Yes they were playing solid coverage, but it was poor decisions and placement and accuracy with the opposing QB, much like Denard did. Stanford missed a 25 yard field goal earlier in the game that would have won them the game in regulation....ND is garbage, and Okla will put a Texas size ass whooping on them

ND fans opinion here. The overall defense is a top 5 defense. Elite D line, Nix, Tuitt are playing like men among boys and Kap and Shembo are solid. We have the best LB in the country. Teo's leadership cant be overstated. Spond has been the biggest surprise in the Corp. Calabrese and Fox combo is the weakest link but playing better than expected. Zeke Motta has made a lot of money for himself. Probably went from a 5-6 round pick to a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Russell and Fairley bring athletism that has been lacking and the numbers speak for themseves aready more ints then all of last season. Its a product of of the d-line but you still have to be in position to make plays. Redzone D is outstanding. Its very hard to run inside the 20 against us.
I believe all teams we face suffered their lowest offensive output of the season except Purdue (Which I would argue was due to jet lag. A 9 hour round trip flight in 4 days will zap anyone's energy.)
As for the offense. Its progressing. Golson is a freshman and he's plays like a freshman still up and down but he's getting alot better. He has the all the tools physically he really needs to step up his presnap reads. He missed a ton of all out blitz packages where he had one on one match ups with Eifert. While Michigan was his low point, I thought he grew up in the 2nd half vs Stanford yesterday. After the 1st half he could of quit like he did against Michigan, but he made throw after throw and began to hang in the pocket. We have good running backs why Cierre Wood isnt our featured back only Kelly knows. My guess is he is still in the doghouse. The O-line seems to need a half before it starts playing. Stanford, MSU, Michigan all control them in the 1st half, but in the 2nd half ND's oline takes over. Something that needs to be fixed asap
With all that being said the thing that makes us a legit Top 5 team HEART. Its something you cant teach or bottle up. Either a team has it or it doesnt. A refusal to lose. Its the x factor that carried you guys to the Sugar Bowl last year and its what has propelled ND to 6-0.

With no rooting interest either way, I think those are two winnable games for Notre Dame. They're both road games, but I don't think either team is unbeatable by any means. Notre Dame will likely be the best defense either team has faced all year. Oklahoma already lost at home to Kansas State, and USC isn't exactly a juggernaut this year. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Irish go 0-2, 1-1 or 2-0 in those games.

You're right, I don't.
I'm not really familiar on the history of this rivalry. And with the exception of one or two of them, the ND fans seem pretty cool to me and I don't really have any problems with them.
What makes this rivalry so bitter? Honest question

Yeah, I guess I did go a little overboard saying ND is going to get "trounced"..
To be honest, I think USC is a very winnable game for ND. If Stanford's front seven can dominate USC, then ND shouldn't have much of a problem doing that either. The X factor in that game is definitely going to be Golson vs the USC defense. If he has a good game, ND will probably win.
But I still do not like them at all vs Oklahoma.

I intend to give my kids three options when it comes to colleges. They can go to Michigan or the Ivy League, and I'll pay for it. They can go somewhere on full scholarship and I'll give them a stipend. However, if they go to Notre Dame, MSU, or (god forbid) Ohio State, I'm disowning them.

What if they go to Notre Dame for undergrad, get a graduate degree from Michigan State, and then end up teaching at Ohio State?
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
