I'm not so sure about this. They just offered Darren Carrington.

I wouldn't read too much into the Carrington offer.

Offering him is a no-brainer. He's a baller, and we'd be lucky to have him help us win another title.

I agree, I don't see any reason why the staff shouldn't take Treadwell, another WR, and a DB. I don't see the need, however, to pick up a 3rd RB or another DL. Those are positions that the staff can target more next year, especially the DL with McDowell and (please) Hand.

My point was that we all agree Quon is in if he wants to be. So, the offer to Carrington means either they will take a 4th WR or that they don't feel good about Quon.

I view the 4th WR the same way i do the 3rd RB or another DL. Whichever we grab this year we take one less of next year.

My guess would be as backups in case Quon ditches us. But who knows shrug

If, when you say "they don't feel good about Quon", you mean "they have not been promised by Quon that he will enroll at Michigan", then you are correct.

But the idea that they shouldn't offer and recruit Carrington because they have a good feeling about Quon is just crazy.

You can keep recruiting a guy without offering. I doubt Hoke would make an offer right now that he wouldn't accept a committment from. Quon has a spot saved. This makes me think that if Quon and another receiver wanted in they would indeed take 4 this year.

Honestly, Quon does not seem (a) eager to commit, and (b) decide on 'who' he really wishes to commit to. I am less convinced we lead for him at this time.

I think one poster here has it right. The coaches want this done my September. McQuay is the only one they want to wait on right now IMHO.

I think you can be convince Michigan leads at this time. How much that could change as he makes more visits is debatable though.

He tweets a lot about every other school but Michigan, but whatever. While Quon is awesome, Harris, Bailey, and Foster could surprise us over the next few months. I am more and more inclined to want this wrapped up soon. The major needs have been met (outside of WR). The coaches could focus on 2014 during the fall season, instead of worrying about bringing more 2013 to home games. We would be 6 months ahead of MANY other programs.

Treadwell tweets more about Michigan than any other school. It's understandable that he wants to take his time in making a important decision. Plus, his HS coaches are adamant that once someone commits they are not allowed to decommit otherwise they will not help at all with that player's recruitment.

  • FWIW, posters from schools in Florida are saying that Bailey is unlikely to leave the state.

With three spots left...I find it hard to believe they would take a 4th WR, unless there was no other option.

I'm starting to believe that 25 spots for this class is possible. Before Chris Rock left, Hoke said this class would be 23-24, and with Rock leaving that number should be 24-25. Also, its clear 1 spot is saved for Quon, anyone speculating what the remaining commits will be based on position might be over-analyzing things....I think they take the best prospects that commit first....all of our needs are meet, so if anyone on their top ten board wants to pull the trigger, thats who will become apart of team 134

Rock leaving was probably part of how Hoke was hoping to get to 23-24.
