The use of "scUM" by Jimtaco.
Listen, calling us "scUM" is not mean or insulting. It's stupid. It's like if I called a buckeye a suckeye. Is that insulting? Would that really bother you? No, you would think I ate paint chips out of a toilet as a child. This goes for all MSU and OSU fans who use that phrase. You sound dumb. Please, continue to call us scUM so I can picture you mouth breathing and drooling on your keyboard with every post. This helps me maintain my innate belief that I'm better than you. However, as much as I do enjoy my sense of superiority, I feel it's my civic responsbility to help you become useful participants in these forums. I know what you're thinking. Taco, how can I? I'm so far away. Don't worry, I'll help you. there are alternative insulting nicknames that actually make sense and serve a purpse.
TSUN - You don't want to dignify us with using our actual name and well... it's... geographically correct. Well done. Walverine - We're all bandwagonly rocking our Michigan bed sheets and footie pajamas. I love my Michigan bed sheets and I love Walmart. Well done. Meatchicken - Lol meatchicken. Get it? Because it sounds like Michigan. scUM - This... this is borderline retarded behavior.
So, next time you're trying to display your displeasure with the University of Michigan keep in mind this friendly reminder.
~Signed, a Taco.

I enjoyed reading your position on this, and will take everything into consideration in the future, I don't know that it would score an 8 on the writing portion of the ACT, however, as it really doesn't take a stance on which word you'd like to be called the most. You say you want us to use the scUM word as a modifier, because it gives you some type of exceptional feeling of grander, however You continue by asking us to consider three or four alternatives. In a fit of drunken confusion at a tailgate, you'll forgive us if we revert back to Walverine. I know that is a bit off puttish to you, but it's usually the alcohol that is speaking by that point.
Thanks again.

I find the reference to the writing portion of the ACT a little bit amusing, in that you do not use proper grammar in the same paragraph. Please review this excerpt from your post:
"...however You continue by asking us to consider three or four alternatives."
Let's examine the proper use of a personal pronoun (I, you, him, her, etc.).
"Apart from "I" which is always capitalized, personal pronouns are generally lower-case letters unless they are at the beginning of a sentence, unlike a proper noun for which the first letter is capitalized. One notable exception is in some translations of the Christian Bible, in which the first letter of the personal pronouns referring to either Jesus or God are capitalized."
It may very well be that you were referring to jimtaco as Jesus or God, and if that was your intent, you did indeed use the personal pronoun properly. But since calling a message board poster Jesus or God would be borderline insane, it leads me to believe that your post is somewhat hypocritical. You reference the writing portion of the ACT and how jimtaco's post may not score an 8, and the same could be said for your post. The reference to the ACT score is weak at best, by stating that you "don't know if that would score an 8..." because you probably don't have any advanced knowledge on how the ACT is scored. The use of "I don't know if", or "I believe", "I think", etc. shows that your statement is opinion, and represents a weak argument. In addition, there is a 2.778% chance that jimtaco would score an 8 on the writing portion of the ACT. He could score lower, or higher so once again, your argument is weak. As you take jimtaco's post into consideration, please take these grammar tips into consideration as well.
As far as the Walverine nickname goes, Walmart is Walmart, and fans of every school across the country shop there. Having traveled much of the country, the type of patrons that frequent Walmart are similar in each state. Implying that Wolverine fans are the stereotypical Walmart patron is prejudice because there are fans of every school that fit the mold. I contend that other schools have more of these stereotypical Walmart patrons than Michigan. Walk into a Walmart in Ohio and it will be very difficult for you to disagree.

Well said and thank you. While I'd like to blame my hand held, I can't. It's my laziness that allowed for such an egregious error.
However, it still leaves us with the problem of how to properly address a "Michigan man". Mr. Taco's essay is still a bit mysterious. While I appreciate your survey of Walmart patrons, it really doesn't bring us to a proper conclusion.

If you are looking for a proper conclusion as to how to address teams and fans associated with the University of Michigan, might I suggest Michigan, or Wolverines. I myself have never gotten too much into name calling, with the exception of the nut loving fanatics in Ohio. I might refer to MSU as Sparty, but that is not an insult, as you see analysts nation-wide using the term. Oh wait, I have used little brother, but up until the last few years, that was a suitable nickname. To me, you can call us whatever you want because it simply isn't important enough to ruin my day. It's a good rivalry so join in as you see fit.

So its been a while since I've offered a good drunken rant, but since its 4pm and I'm drunk, I figured I'd give the thread a bump. Quite frankly, I had other stuff to rant about, but since I had to go back so far to find the thread, I'll focus on the lack of participation.
I'm a firm believer that "a drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts". Liquid courage so to speak allows us drinkers to get things off our chests that may otherwise be buried. This thread was started by yours truly to provide an opportunity to relieve the stress of the real world, but I am disappointed that it has all but died.
I would like to challenge the rest of you, and the best post of the night will receive all of my upvotes for at least a day, and if it is worthy, I will upvote the poster everytime I see his (or her) name.
I am quite certain that there are several other drinkers here, so let's hear it...
