A few observations from being in the stands yesterday"

-Vince Smith got alot of reps (which where not on 3rd down) with the 1st string O
-AJ Williams is not fast...I saw him go out on a pass route, and he is limited in that aspect with speed
-Mattison was mixing up the Defense personnel....he had alot of LB combinations (probably due to the score as well), and I noticed several formations where we had 2 LB playing WDE (Gordon and Ryan as I recall).

Gordan was the SAM. Clark was the other DE.

  • Thanks for the thoughts Awink! Vincent Smith did have two touchdowns but only rushed for 20 yards. Michigan needs more out of him. Ondre Pipkins already looks like he has gotten a little better. What were your thoughts on Bellomy although he didn't have many pass plays?

Bellomy looked pretty uncomfortable in the pocket, but I can't blame him since the tackles were turnstiles. He did look composed on the read option that he took to the goalline, so I have hope that he will be fine once he has some protection and gets in the flow of the game.

Al Borges might even call him a "Baller".

  • Still think the game is a little too fast for him right now. If Morris redshirts next year I will be nervous

He has all season to progress and all of next off season. I would be more worried if Morris is forced to start as a true Freshman.

We dont need Williams to be fast. He isnt going to stretch the defense. Best case scenario, Pettigrew with better hands.

    Expect Morris to redshirt.

    He is not ready.

Bellomy has this season, next spring training, summer workouts, and next fall camp to improve under College coaches. Morris only has fall camp.

agreed, need to c some of Bellomy with actual protection to make an accurate determination and alot of progress can be made in a years time. Starting a true frosh qb rarely works out well.

for sure, Williams will be used as a blocker and safety blanket that runs 5-10 yard outs, Funchess will be the big downfield threat from the TE position.

I understand this. Ryan was the de and Gordan was a lb.

Bellomy is a gamer, I think he will be a solid manager with more experience, and he surprised me with his athleticism. I think he should be the starting QB next year, and it will be better for the program long term in truly having that transition, which will trickle down to the Hoke recruits which is much needed

HAHA LOL, not only comparing him to Pettigrew, but also having better hands. You have to actually be a consistent threat to catch the ball to qualify having better hands lolexploderoflmao
