MSU fans thought their O-line was pretty good. We were getting to their QB rushing 4 and sometimes 3 guys. If we can do that against UM, our LBs will be waiting for D-Rob to run. Tuitt is a beast as well as Nix. Sheldon Day is not playing like a freshman. Shembo and Ishaq have stepped up their game tons since last year. Manti is, well, Manti. DBs are young, but I like their athleticism. Offense is still working , but getting better. Our QB position has a nice upgrade in Golson. I like our playmakers, and that we can sub in lots of fresh legs.
ND needs to keep Denard in the pocket. Can't let him scramble around too often. I'm going with ND by 10.

The OL comparison vs. MSU and last year's OL is much more complex than I think people are making it out to be.
Our tackles have improved, Schofield > Huyge and Lewan has improved as well. You can make the argument that Michigan's tackles are probably the best pair of tackles outside of Alabama. I don't think Michigan is going to have trouble from DE's on 4 man rushes (against any team).
The interior of the line is definitely worse than last year - in both pass protect and run blocking. The way teams are going to get pass rush against Michigan successfully is on the inside and/or by disguising where the pressure is coming from (i.e. sending multiple guys up a gap).
MSU's OLine strength is on the interior and very run oriented. ND was able to take advantage of their deficiencies in pass pro and on the edges to get after Maxwell. ND has the talent and personnel to successfully get pressure on Denard, but I don't think that'll happen using the same tactics they used vs. MSU.

I disagree. Our OL has been solid. Denard is still getting his rushing yards. The pass protection has been solid. We played Bama. We were not going to run the ball well against them. Our RBs struggled some against Air Force but were fine against UMass. I don't see how you can say our OL hasn't been as good as it was last year.

Except, there are obvious passing downs, even with Denard.
Also, if Bama played contain and Robinson has burned the Irish, don't you think ND will play contain too? Since ND has nowhere near the DB talent or performance of Bama, is that going to be an issue for you guys?
(Bama's DBs, especially Milliner, broke up a ton of plays or had great bumps, without that, it is a different game.)

no one put pressure on denard these three weeks rushing 4 guys. don't think UM has the same line as MSU, its not even close. they think cause bell had a big game against boise that they have a good line. If ND can put pressure on denard with three guys I will never post here again. ND is gonna need 6 guys to get through

I'm sure Bama did pretty well against your o-line. I didn't see the game so that is an assumption. I'm not going to compare our D-line with Bama, but we are close. Definitely more of a challenge to your O-line than your other 2 opponents. I still take our guys in this contest.
