That Can't Be Right

We should start a thread about previous clairvoyant comments like these that were vituperated by bucknutters, who are now hypocritical to their prior stance......they need to be vetted, and this is a perfect scenario.

    Vituperated...now there's a word you'll never see on Bucknuts.

But really, I love how "Urban's targeting elite national recruits" turns into "Urban's taking a 3-star Ohio safety after Michigan and MSU already took all the better Ohio safeties."

Does anyone know if we offered him or not. I didn't think we did---I don't remember ever even hearing his name associated with Michigan. 247 and Rivals don't have us offering him, but iowabuckeye from Bucknuts said that we did per Scout (which I can't access at work). Not a big deal, but I don't want to give them unwarranted satisfaction thinking they got one we were after.

I'm pretty damn sure UM and ND never offered the kid. Honestly i'm glad we didn't. Safety isn't a high priority for us this year and believe we are only taking one so we can afford to wait it out for a better prospect.

  • It's strange how they have recently taken two three-star recruits when I kept hearing that they were only taking elite players because of limited scholarships and Urban's recruiting prowess. I don't care to make fun of them but it is certainly funny how their tone has changed so quickly.

Also, I'm sure that Jayme didn't have an offer from Michigan or ND. He de-committed from WVU a few months ago and was probably looking for a Michigan or ND offer but didn't receive either. He then committed to WVU again. That's at least what I heard during the time there was talk about him and Michigan. So he has now de-committed from WVU twice, I guess.

  • Just so as a fanbase I'm clear, Congrats to the kid for an OSU offer. Coaches saw something they liked.

Our heckles and laughs are to the fanbase who claim Meyer's national movement...right?

I wonder how long it will be until we have to hear how Thompson is better than Dymonte. lol

I'm a diehard buckeye fan but any level-headed fan will never say that Thompson is as good as Dymonte. I personally think that the Thompson kid was a stretch but who am I to decide that. It will be interesting to see how our class finishes up. To be clear, Dymonte > Thompson.

Absolutely. I liked this kid when he was considering Michigan too, though he never got an offer. He is a nice pickup. The laugh is on the fan base, not on Mr. Thompson.

  • Another rational buckeye fan here, i know i know, (insert joke here). Dymonte is clearly a better prospect than Thompson, although I'm hoping the staff saw something they really like there. And Vonn Bell is visiting this weekend, and hopefully Su'a Craven will visit us like he claims (not that I think we get either one but we can hope) so maybe they're hoping he's an 'add depth' guy. Lord knows we need help at S.

The national recruiting theme is legit though, and relatively new to us OSU fans. UM has long enjoyed 'national recruiter' status. We get OOS players here and there, but it's been Ohio based forever. Enter Urb. Last year we got commits from Ca, Co, Ill, In, Pa, Nc, Fla, and Ma. This year we have Nj and Mo already with interest from others. That's pretty unchartered territory for us, although second nature to you guys. We can't help but be excited, if not a little annoying about it. Such a new world over here.

It sounds like most Buckeye fans believe that Cam Burrows will switch to safety, so that should help a lot.

+1 Thanks for the insight, it's always nice being able to get different viewpoints from different fanbases, while maintaining a respectful atmosphere.
