Even though Slippery Rock is DII, it is nice to see that he is taking what's given. Last year he tried to force way too many shots.

  • THJ has 25 points on 10 shots. That is outstanding.

  • 100-61 final. Again slippery rock, but did what they had to do.

Don't like that we gave up 61. Our D was not good in this game in my opinion. Rebounding was questionable in the first half as well.

  • Yeah they started off slow, but got it going. Eventually I think they are going to insert Horford in the starting lineup for Vogrich to go big. I think Vogrich is better off the bench.

I like Vogrich in the starting lineup.

  • He's got to do it against quality teams. There were too many stretches in games last year where Trey was legitimately the only option we had on offense. It will be nice to take some pressure off of him.

I only got to watch the first half, then the game cut out. Good that he had a good showing. Box score.

    False.

Looking quickly at stats just from this past year(Not taking into account his big games against teams like MSU, OSU, Duke, etc as a freshman), hardaway went off against northwestern, illinois, wisconsin, indiana, memphis, duke, and ucla for 14, 25, 17, 19, 21, 19, and 20. so, he definitely shows up in the big game [minus that 4-point performance against michigan state in east lansing--that must a hurt the most]. One game against MSU... more often then not Burke and Hardaway were our only options last year, there was too much pressure on them... this year there is less pressure.

Same here. Waiting for mgovideo to have the game up hopefully later tonight and then i will watch the second half.

I think Vogrich can be a solid player this year. Needs around 15 to 20 min a game and he can average like 8 points.

Agreed.. in their defense tho .. 1) it was the first real game of the year .. and 2) they didn't seem very motivated to be playing slippery rock. I GUARANTEE Coach B will have them ready fro NC State.

Yeah I like the depth developing on this team, I like the fact that even when Morgan and McGary picked up 2 quick fouls in the first Mclimans came in and actually didn't look half bad... we already know Morgan, McGary, and Horford are going to play regularly nice too see that Mclimans actually showed that if he gets in the game or has to play for some reason he can make a positive impact instead of being a liability.

I'm gonna go ahead and go with what I said, because I watched just about every game. Looking at a boxscore doesn't tell you everything about a game.

    So....True.

BTW... you should probably look at shooting percentages.

I watched all of those games too man, most of those game we won if not all.

Not panicking just didn't like what i saw defensively tonight. A lot of room for improvement.

  • Until we can rebound better and have a shot blocking force in the paint I will continue to have my reservations.

You said he went off against Indiana... which time? He shot 4-14 and 7-19 (2-15 from 3) against them.

Once we hit conference play aside from a couple games Hardaway did not play very well. He became a one dimensional jump shooter, and he wasn't hitting shots.

Trey was carrying way too much of the burden on offense, especially late in games.

Hardaway needs to step up so we have another option in crunch time.

Yeah, and he shot that many times.... because the team only had 2 good scoring options. How hard is that too see? Nobody is saying Hardaway had a great year a year ago if that is what your getting at because he did not, but bottomline I think this kid gets to much heat from the fanbase. He essentially had no help besides Burke... and Morgan scoring off his pick and rolls/occasionally in the post. Novak and Douglass for all the leadership that they provided had limited skill sets, made things tougher on our 2 top players as it made it easier to defend those 2 guys and you also had Novak playing out of position at the 4 because Symotrcyz was not tough enough to keep his starting job. Then you look at the fact that they had no bench last year with Horford being injured for the year, Symotrcyz essentially being useless once big ten play hit(Why they benched him), you really only had 1 sub in Vogrich all year long with Mclimans sprinkled in occasionally. Tim gets way too much heat, he will have a better year this year because he as well as Burke don't have the weight of the whole team on their shoulders. Last years team which won the Big Ten... was barely winning exhibition games at this time a year ago... I think we beat some no name team wayne state by 8 and only won the season opener by 4 points against Western Illinois, I remember people whining back then. This team is much better then a year ago and has much more options.
