Well-written article. But I disagree with you about Mags playing OG. He's a true tackle all the way, imo.
I personally think the OL will be:
LT: Lewan
LG: Kalis
OC: Miller
RG: Braden
RT: Schofield

I've seen it many places that Magnuson is getting a good look at one of the guard positions. Wouldn't be bad for him IMO.

I think for this season, it may be more out of necessity than best fit; I think both Braden and Magnuson project to tackle; Chris Bryant is the wild-card; if he's back to full strength, he might end up being the guy.

While I agree that Magnuson is a natural OT and will be the heir apparent to Lewan at left tackle, it has been mentioned by insiders on other paysites that both Braden and Magnuson will get a crack at one of the guard spots this season. Funk believes in getting the five best o-linemen on the field.

Magnuson is a Tackle.... but if 3 of your 5 best OL are Tackles, you move one of them to Guard.

Well yeah, I agree the best 5 need to be playing, but the 5 I listed are the 5 I think that will start. Not saying Magnuson can't, I just think Braden will win the job over him.

I love that all that competition is just going to make all of them better. Add in the fact that Bosch is going to at least fight for a spot on the 2-deep, and you've got a hell of a young core.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Schofield put at guard, that is where he will play in the NFL. In that situation I'd guess Braden at RT.

Pretty sure I've heard that the coaches like him at tackle. He really grew into a good tackle throughout the year.

I'm just saying, our depth is tackle heavy and Schofield is versatile enough to play guard or tackle.

I would prefer Schofield at guard. That way either Braden or Magnuson could get experience playing tackle. Just my preference but I would rather not have 2 brand new tackles next year.

Oh I agree, I've long said I would like to have Schofield inside this year and have Braden at RT. But I'm just saying that I think the coaches have said they want to keep Schofield at RT.

I know what you were saying. I was just giving my preference. Also, I don't always trust what the coaches are saying. Hoke doesn't always give everything away. He is a sneaky one.
