Speculation on a Buckeyes Board...

  • freernnur5 said...

Wasn't Brandon Graham initially a LB as well? That worked out pretty well if I remember correctly...

Correct. Came in as a big LB then gained a lot of weight so they put him at DE. His first year or so I remember from "Three and Out" that he was lazy until his mom got robbed or something like that and he put in a ton of work and became the beast he is today. OT, I know but I always think that is an awesome story.

He's visiting this weekend per the Scout front page.

I wouldn't get to excitied I read the article. Gedeon never hinted at a possiblty commiting this weekend and he maintained he was waiting till at least his senior season to decide on a program.

    Love the O'Daniels news though!

I think McCray would possibly be moved to DL if he were to commit.

I don't necessarily think McCray with be on the DL. He'd have to put on a ton of weight. McCray at best might be a rush end in passing situations but not a every down DL. I like him as an outside LB, but I want O'Daniel and Levenberry so bad.

  • Here is the post on BuckeyePlanet:

(referring to the report that Gedeon might visit UM this weekend)

Could commit if he does and this is one where I feel we just got outrecruited. Not necessarily Meyer's fault because he wasn't there at the beginning. But Fickell and the holdovers bear some responsibility if we lose out on this extremely talented linebacker.

It is from a regular on their board, no idea if he has any connections or is just speculating.

  • I don't really buy into the Gedeon rumor, but good to get him on campus. I think we have a legitimate shot at him. Not favored, mind you, but realistic.

Michigan definitely leads for his services.

I'm not sure, our only true needs on the D side of the ball is a couple bodies on the line and possibly one DB so it could get to the point of taking in elite talent just because. Like last year, do you turn down James Ross? Of course not. Do you turn down EJ Levenberry or Dorian O'Daniel? No.

I completely agree, you cant turn away top tier talent like Levenberry, and especially O'Daniel (especially O'Daniel). DOD is versatile, and he may be able to play safety as well, but the speed he has for an outside LB is something this defense has been missing for years.

Not to mention that getting a pipeline to Good Counsel would be fantastic for the program. They produce 5 star talent yearly.

I agree with McCray moving to DL. And I would be ecstatic about Gideon committing. But I won't trust a McCray commit until that LOI is signed so I think the coaches have to stay hard on Levenberry and O'Daniel. Those are my top 2 choices. Unfortunately it looks like Anzalone might be the guy left out and that kid is a stud too. So many options I don't know what to do, haha

It would be great to get a pipeline to GC but the odds of that happening are very low because they produce so much talent they have outlets of alumni all over the country so getting one or two kids every few years doesn't do much.

Getting even 1 good 4 or 5 star player every 2 years could become a trend and it could snowball to make it an actual pipeline. I understand that this is a pipedream, but I don't give a shit.

Wow, if true, LB spots are going to become scarce, fast. I say all three LB should just commit, and close off the position like we finished of OL...goblue

I do wonder if McCray may be headed for somewhere other than LB, like Mario last year? Just asking...

McCray may be a better TE prospect than linebacker prospect. Very athletic.

  • Also, don't know if this means anything or not but the original post was started by a user named "Stowfan". Stow is the bordering city to the south of Hudson, Gideon's hometown and school. Our hs plays Hudson and Stow and Gedeon is a player.
