Calling the plays isn't close to everything an OC is responsible for. Play design and team development are big too.

Harris is gone regardless of this hire IMO. Not sure who to ... but he is gone.

I've never seen a coach hated more at OSU than Bollman.
Two years ago, Sparty came to Columbus and held Ohio State to 178 total yards. They had 39 carries for 35 yards. Sparty was jumping Ohio State's snap count, and Ohio State did nothing to stop them. Michigan State won 10-7, and Ohio State scored their lone touchdown with less than a minute left. Bollman was the mastermind behind that performance, as it was his only season calling plays.
And Michigan State noticed his performance, and have hired him to direct their offense. This is a huge win for the rest of the big ten. Bollman is absolutely awful.

As opposed to going out and bringing in a smart young mind who may or may not do great things, or even spending the money to get someone who's shown he can do it at the NFL (I don't count Bollman's two years as a TE's coach) or even SEC level -- and not just someone who rode Tressel's coattails for 10 years -- MSU decided to go with a coach they know will get them to an average record. They'd rather spend a little money to get an okay coach than invest a lot of money to take a chance on someone who can really give them a shot at doing something better than just treading water. Disappointing for MSU fans.

We definitely need to keep Sparty in the B10 East.
