Why do MSU trolls think that because there is a 3-4 year streak that it is unthinkable that the team on the losing end have little chance of winning?

If that is the case, I fully expect all MSU trolls to predict Michigan to beat ND. Am I right?
I have to believe that until ND proves it on the field, that there is no doubt we will win.

I must assume that if I see a prediction thread over there that all those trolls will chalk up Michigan as a win or a simple roflmao is the appropriate response.

According to MSU fans then, MSU will never go to a Rose Bowl, and Michigan will play in a BCS Bowl every year.

    Sounds good to me.

to think anybody will beat anybody because of past performance is silly...

however, when u look at current rosters compared to those of the previous season you can get a reasonable idea of what can happen...

this argument is close to my heart because of osu's losing streak to top sec teams (save the vacated sugar bowl vs ark.)

they (sec fans) think because we lost to lsu and fla in the natties that we will never beat them again....

very frustrating to say the least

Well, when you put it that way it seems much more reasonable.

MSU has lost touch of reality. They are having their butts whipped by Michigan on the recruiting trail for 2+ years now. They cling to the past (we won x straight), when the Michigan coaches are looking at the future. They beat RR talent, and a schema that does not work in the B10 (as Urbie will find out).

I am more concerned with ND, OSU, and Nebraska, which is our real competition for recruits in the midwest.

  • Damn did Minnesota make the wrong choice firing Mason. They were 2-0 and had an increddible backfield in Maroney and Barber III. I think that was the best backfieln in the decade when the media was all over Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams.

Brown and Williams were held to under 100 yards against the SEC best running defense in 2004 (Alabama) and Maroney and Barber III torched them for 300 yards in the bowl game.

When has UM not whipped MSU in recruiting?

If you look at the transfers under RR, MSU did whip Michigan in recruiting after all was said and done at least on defense.

Edit: How can MSU have a higher star rating on defense if this is not true?

Not going to disagree with that, but for what I haave seen over the past 6 months, it is why should I worry, Michigan is no threat, we have beat them the last 4 years and held Denard in check the last 2. There is no way you can predict a Michigan win.

I am just questioning the logic.
When Michigan was winning, I never questioned MSU's ability to win the game, I knew it could be a tossup every year.

  • I still have terrible memories of plaxico burress just manhandling David Terrell at the line of scrimage ... literally picking him up and throwing him on the ground ... I guess those years of Michigan winning before that WERE HUGE!!!!!!

1- Not really sure you can look at recruiting classes after the fact and then compare- if that's the case- then let's go back and give MSU top 10-15 classes back to when Dantonio took over and recruiting this past graduating class

2- Great question, but it turns out, the starting 11 for UM is higher rated than the starting 11 for MSU.

    MSU starting D:

    Gholston 5
    Rush 3
    ARW 3
    Hoover 3
    Allen 3
    Bullough 4
    Norman 4
    Adams 3
    Dennard 2
    Lewis 4
    Williamson 3

    So total of: 37/11 = 3.36

UM- and correct me if any are wrong- going off pre season mag

    Campbell 5
    Roh 4
    Black 3
    Beyer 4
    Morgan 3
    Demons 4
    Ryan 3
    Floyd 3
    Countess 4
Kovacs - walk on, I'll put him as 2
    Gordon 3

    Total of: 38/11 = 3.45

I'm a MSU fan (obviously) but consider UM a huge threat

AA is going to be rocking and home field is huge...

Think it'll be a close game and much closer than the last 2 years for sure

This year evens out (with an arbitrary number for Kovacs, without that number, MSU still ranks higher) ... but this is with Michigan actually having wayyy more youth in those comparisons. I am not saying that is a bad thing for MSU at all.

Hell, to even have such a GREAT defense with the players says a lot but I feel the tides are turning, I am not at all trying to downplay. You will have a top 15 if not top 5 defense this year. Replacing a QB and top 3 WRs is tough as well.

we are in general biggrin, we definetly appreciate classy fans from any rival that want to have civil discussions. Some smack talk is pretty much a requirement, gota have somethin to do during the long football offseason lol
